Going to #EGU26? Consider submitting to our session: Peatland Hydrology! 💧 Deadlines for abstracts is 15 Jan. 2026
Peat friends! Our #EGU26 session "Peatland hydrology: From tropical to subarctic latitudes" 🌍🌿💧 is open for abstracts. We welcome studies on a broad range of hydrological processes in peatlands. Submission deadline is Thu 15 Jan, 13:00 CET. Full info here: www.egu26.eu/session/56151
A decade ago, we published our highly cited "Hydrological Feedbacks in Northern Peatlands" paper in Ecohydrology. Today the sequel just dropped! "Hydrological Feedbacks in Northern Peatlands 2: Peat Depth as a Control on Peatland Resilience" onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/... 1/3
Excited to share our new paper in Environmental Research: Water! We studied how wildfires and drought mobilise legacy metal contaminants from peatlands, focusing on the 2018 Stalybridge Moor fire in the UK. Read it here: iopscience.iop.org/journal/3033...
Stats Cat new and improved attitude; helping me prepare for my PhD defense 💪

Lots of great #peatland sessions at #EGU25. Here’s a breakdown of what’s on… Remember applications for financial support for travel to #EGU25 need to be submitted by 2 Dec 2024 – details here egu25.eu/guidelines/s... #PeatSky #PeatECR #PeatlandsMatter @eurogeosciences.bsky.social
Even when you feel small, you can stand tall and be resilient. Moss sporophytes eject spores into the atmosphere with one of the greatest physical forces measured in biology. We find these spores in sediments collected in the middle of the ocean. Wee but mighty.
♻️ Activity on this platform has increased a lot over the last month, so we thought we'd bring back this post about Dr Cat Moody's awesome study. Please get in touch with Cat if you do field work and can collect some water samples for her project 💧📦 #PeatECR #PeatSky
PEAT are supporting Dr Cat Moody's NERC Fellowship Research 💧🌱🔍 Her work will compare pools created during restoration with natural pools and ponds. To make this a global study, Cat is asking #PeatECR to send her water samples. #PeatBsky 🧪📨 1/2
Great to see so many newcomers to the Good Place these weeks! 🤩 Please enjoy some of my favourite moss photos (mainly Sphagnum spp, of course) to brighten up your feed [Locations: western Wales, southern NL, my bathroom]
Peatland friends! We're convening our #Peatland #Hydrology session at #EGU25. There are lots of peaty sessions on the programme this year so it will be an excellent opportunity for us all to get together. You can submit your abstract here: bit.ly/4hVgSE7 #PeatlandsMatter #PeatSky #PeatECR
