I returned to Syria and saw something remarkable: women are leading the country's recovery. From rebuilding livelihoods to supporting communities, their resilience is shaping Syria's future. I wrote about the women I met and the lessons they left with me: www.moretoherstory.com/stories/syri...

I just returned from Syria and Lebanon. It's hard to find words to describe what I saw and heard from communities rebuilding their lives amid conflict, displacement, and uncertainty. But one thing is clear: the headlines do not capture the reality that people live every day. 🧵

In crises like this, local leadership saves lives. Oxfam is mobilizing its emergency mechanisms to support a locally led, people-centered response, standing with communities in Venezuela as they face profound loss, fear, and uncertainty.

Two major #earthquakes have struck #Venezuela, leaving hundreds affected and basic services severely damaged. Oxfam is mobilizing its emergency mechanisms and is fully committed to supporting a locally-led, people-centered response.

Escalating Israeli settler violence has created a palpable climate of fear and suffocation for Palestinians.  In the first 3 months of this year alone there were over 540 settler attacks, 33 Palestinian people killed & more than 2,200 Palestinians displaced.   www.oxfamamerica.org/press/more-p...

The need for clean water and decent sanitation services are essential for human survival, and are two key ways that you—and Oxfam—can make an enormous difference. By providing clean water, hygiene promotion, and sanitation services we can save countless lives. #WorldWaterDay

This weekend’s escalation in the Middle East is a reckless breach of international law with consequences far beyond the region. The US and Israel’s attacks on Iran undermine the rules‑based order, and the silence of many Western leaders at this moment is deeply alarming.

I joined @forbes.com to talk about the devastating consequences of the Trump admin’s devastating cuts to humanitarian aid. One year later, the stories of impact from our partners and colleagues continue to be harrowing. I hope you’ll give this a watch.

We have run out of words to describe the depths of suffering we have witnessed after President Trump took a sledgehammer to U.S. humanitarian assistance and the entire global aid system. One year later we are seeing years of progress unravel, suffering and preventable deaths.

Oxfam America@oxfamamerica.bsky.social · 7mo ago

The series of cruel and illegal cuts to U.S. humanitarian and lifesaving aid the Trump administration initiated on day one have already cost lives and undermined the entire global aid system. Children should not be dying preventable deaths.

The new American oligarchy is here. The wealthiest 1% gained 987× more wealth per household than the poorest 20%. Proud of my Oxfam colleagues for exposing this inequality emergency, and calling for an economy that works for the many, not the wealthy few. #TheFutureIsEqual

Two years. On October 7, 2023, Hamas and other armed groups carried out devastating attacks in Israel. We still mourn those lost that day and the 48 hostages who remain in captivity. But Israel’s response has created one of the worst humanitarian crises of our time.

Today, as they meet, President Trump must act now to compel Prime Minister Netanyahu to change course: to uphold international law, ensure accountability, end impunity and secure a permanent ceasefire.

In his #UNGA80 speech, President Trump denied the climate crisis, bragged about ending wars & economic woes that his policies exacerbate & undermined the UN. Meanwhile, conflicts escalate & climate and inequality impacts grow. Shameful. Oxfam's statement: www.oxfamamerica.org/press/oxfam-...
