So many SMB “conferences” are super spammy. I’m looking for a community conference event for SMBs focused on topics like business fundamentals, finance, operations, supply chain, etc… with an eye to efficiency, risk management, resilience, and cybersecurity. Does this exist?
Accidental CISO

I accidentally became the CISO. I didn't want this job, but the job chose me. I'm scared, and I want to go home. https://www.accidentalciso.net
Someone submitted an anonymous AMA question on my blog to get my thoughts on how they might package up their services for a new vCISO practice for their smaller SMB customers (25-100 employees), and how they might account for onboarding vs ongoing operational work. Here are my thoughts. 👇

I need a firm but professional way to tell someone to “get over yourself”.
A good friend of mine has re-launched his UX/design consulting firm. If any of you know anyone building products or SaaS apps and that needs help with UX and UI design, he's great. Tons of experience with security products. agentuxlab.com

After three weeks of working from the RV in 7 different states, this Spacelink thing is pretty amazing. Yes, there are problems, but I think it is incredible from both an engineering and a UX perspective.

Ahh yes, that perpetual feeling of being almost caught up with everything in life.
The old saying, “Clean it like you are going to sell it, and then you won’t want to,” is apparently true for RVs, too. 🤣😭
My friends will be like "so, I had an interesting day today," and I honestly never know what's going to come next.
I was once asked in a job interview if I “thought I could handle a RAID 5” and I still think about that sometimes. 🤣🤷♂️
I need to rebuild my media server, currently Plex + a lifetime Plex Pass. Is there a compelling reason to switch to Jellyfin, given that I have a lifetime Plex license already?
Ubiquiti has apparently added Lets Encrypt support to UniFi. I’m going to have to check that out.
I’m really looking forward to Hackers Teaching Hackers this week. First con of the year for me. 🎉
I'm wearing a suit for my graduation today. My daughter said I look like a weather reporter. 🤣 👨🎓🤘
So, who is going to be at Hackers Teaching Hackers next week in Columbus?
My new Ubiquiti UNAS4 is a neat little desktop NAS device, but wow, the Unifi Drive software it is barely a Minimum Viable Product at this point.
My kids are officially out of school for the summer. So much for any sort of routine until September. 😭
I suppose I better get to CISOing. This place isn’t going to secure itself.
