New study shows MSC therapy alleviates systemic sclerosis, with significantly reduced skin fibrosis & stabilized lung function Integrated multiomics revealed that MSCs drive immunometabolic reprogramming by repairing oxidative phosphorylation defects in cDC2 cells and restoring immune homeostasis

Mesenchymal Stromal Cells Fuel Immunometabolic Reprogramming of Type 2 Conventional Dendritic Cells to Alleviate Systemic Sclerosis. Graphical abstract made using BioRender

In a Swedish national cohort with newly diagnosed SLE 2006-2022, the role of oral GC exposure in organ damage differed across organ domains. For several domains, especially cardiovascular damage, GC exposure over a 3-year period was required to fully capture the association with organ damage risk

Oral glucocorticoid dose patterns and organ damage in systemic lupus erythematosus – a nationwide cohort study

Background Evaluating the relationship between glucocorticoid (GC) exposure and organ damage in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is challenging since GC dose varies over time. It is unclear which ...

New study on chronic recurrent multifocal osteomyelitis translates findings from mouse models to patients Results identify chronic neutrophil activation and upregulation of inflammatory & chemotaxis pathways as prominent features. Many of these features normalized with anti-TNF biologics

Cross-sectional study using the National Inpatient Sample 2018-2020 showed rheumatoid arthritis was associated with higher odds of discharge health resources need after orthopedic intermediate risk surgery but not composite adverse clinical events or inpatient mortality AC&R doi.org/10.1002/acr....

Rheumatoid arthritis, frailty, and outcomes of surgical hospitalizations: A national population‐based analysis

OBJECTIVE Hospitalization, particularly for surgery, represents a period of heightened stress. We evaluated how frailty attenuates the association of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) with negative health o...

A 32-year-old man presented with 3 months of low back pain. Pelvic radiograph showed millimeter-sized opacities corresponding to bone islands in the sacrum, both acetabula, pubis, & ischium, as well as both femoral heads & necks (top left). A coronal T2-weighted fat-suppressed MRI demonstrated ...

Pelvic radiograph showed millimeter-sized opacities corresponding to bone islands in the sacrum, both acetabula, pubis, & ischium, as well as both femoral heads & necks (top left). T1 fat-suppressed sequence hip MRI images similarly revealed numerous millimeter-sized nodular hypointensities consistent with bone islands (top right). Coronal T2-weighted fat-suppressed MRI demonstrated corresponding hypointense bone islands without surrounding bone marrow edema or perilesional reaction (bottom)

A 53-year-old woman presented with fever & right neck pain. She had a history of breast carcinoma and had undergone chemotherapy with sacituzumab govitecan, which required pegfilgrastim. Seven days after the last pegfilgrastim dose, she developed generalized fatigue, fever, and right-sided neck pain

Contrast-enhanced CT did not reveal the origin of the fever on day 10 (A). Follow-up CE-CT on day 14 showed arterial wall thickening, especially in the right common carotid artery (B). Carotid ultrasonography showed thickening of the outer lines around the bifurcation of the right common carotid artery into the external and internal carotid arteries, strongly suggestive of arteritis (C).

Mouse model explored β-TrCP2 in bone homeostasis & potential as therapeutic target for osteoporosis Results showed β-TrCP2 regulates osteoclast formation by modulating IKKε–IRF3–IFNβ & NF-κB signaling pathway and influences osteoblast activity by β-catenin accumulation A&R doi.org/10.1002/art....

First case report of BCMA-directed CAR-T therapy for severe, refractory antiphospholipid syndrome. The patient had triple-positive APS with recurrent, life-threatening diffuse alveolar hemorrhage despite rituximab and high-dose GCs. BCMA CAR-T therapy resulted in a rapid clinical response...
