Despite alarming privacy implications, the social media ban passed the House today with only two Democrats opposed. Reps spent most of the day in private caucuses, deciding the fate of amendments. Public debate was extremely limited. Bad process to pass a bad bill. #mapoli

MA House leadership is trying to ram through a sweeping social media bill with less than 48 hours notice. Released yesterday, H.5349 would ban social media use for children under 14 and require parental consent for ages 14 and 15. This raises immense privacy concerns. #mapoli

MA is officially a national leader in hiding information from the public. This Sunshine Week, the Society of Professional Journalists granted MA its "Black Hole Award" for open records laws that it says "stymie the public’s ability to access what should be freely available information." #mapoli ☀️

This is wrong, but shows how broken our campaign finance laws are. Senate Pres. Spilka uses campaign funds to lease, repair, & pay insurance on her Audi (~$13,700 last year). Leadership drops thousands on steak dinners. Apparently, Rep. Tyler's error was failing to come up with an excuse. #mapoli
