Sean is right that 6MOY is an award generally given to players with the best counting stats, and Dean Wade will never be close to that. But he might be one of the most important bench players in the entire league, especially because of how often he’ll be asked to slide into the starting lineup.

Some interesting results playing around with Basketball Index's custom lineup tool. Pretty tame projections for the Sixers' projected starting five... and much better numbers when Dean Wade or Dominick Barlow is involved. This is why Nick Nurse is going to do a ton of staggering:

Sixers dumped Caleb Martin’s four-year deal (along with a 2030 second-round pick) and got 103 games of Quentin Grimes and 55 minutes of Johni Broome out of it. Still very good business, but did not turn out to be a heist to the degree it seemed a year ago.
