I'm a big fan of the The Wicker Man (1973), so I'll check out pretty much any related projects, even the sins against nature (e.g. the 2006 remake). So when the YouTube algo fed me a trailer for the upcoming film Wicker, I eagerly clicked, anticipating a dose of folk horror. That is not what I got.

I refuse to talk politics with my dad, so instead I got to listen to him go on and on tonight about how this Steve Beet-oh guy (Rick Beato) doesn't know what the hell he's talking about because he's never seen him mention how important/genius The Ventures and Nokie Edwards were. 🤦♂️

I wish I had learned earlier in life that being comfortable with silence in a social or professional setting is a super power.
I eat very little meat these days--the few times per year that I have a hot dog, it'll be a natural casing (when available) Applegate brand dog (humane) with the dog, kraut, and bun all steamed (to varying degrees) with lager and finished off with sweet relish and mustard.

Unfinished Painting by Keith Haring. I've got a large print hanging over my bed. Says so much about the artist's personal tragedy and the fragility of life in general, especially for the disenfranchised. For me, it's a gut-wrenching representation of memento mori.

I never did catch up--I'm a good 2 weeks or so behind now and still trying. I know I'm not social media'ing right, but a) I guess I've got some unhealthy digital FOMO compulsions, and b) it's actually kind of interesting to view some of these real time hot takes through the lens of two-weeks-later.
