July reads…busy month so not so many. My favorite was probably “Land.” I didn’t always look forward to reading it, but it has really stuck with me 💙📚

We’ve been on the Camino (Portuguese coastal route) for two days, and both the vibes and the views are immaculate
June reads 💙📚 Especially loved “A Place for Us” and “John of John.” And always happy to have new writing from Jesmyn Ward
Posted outside a local bar…this drives me SO nuts Why are you people getting married?!
I’ve seen two rattlesnakes in two days. Here’s the big guy from this morning:
“Pop-Tarts Carnage Liquid Death strawberry toaster pastry flavored iced tea” have got to be the most American words ever written
May reads 📚💙 I loved Hiroshima in the morning. The Correspondent is a masterpiece. Great to have a new Lindy West book. And The Sisters, The Mires, The Complex, and American Han were all solid fiction reads

Boromir: and why do we not EMBRACE the ring's power?? Aragorn: and what would you have us do with it? Boromir: a lot of editing advice, and also a way to take care of busy work, you know, memos about orcs et cetera Aragorn: Boromir: and difficult break-ups, if you know what I mean

I’ve been on the job market for a long time, and I wonder if I’m starting to take rejection a little *too* well
Nihilism is their whole political strategy. Yes, everything is bad. But it doesn’t have to be *this* bad

Every time college graduates boo their university’s lazy attempts to shill AI, an angel gets its wings
Sir, another graduation ceremony in which the students booed AI has dropped. "College graduates were pissed after their school used AI to announce graduates’ names and missed hundreds of names" (via @/FearedBuck on Twitter)
Oh, this is so good. “Nobody wants a parasocial bestie who shills for the plutocrats who are nullifying their votes, degrading their educations, jacking up their power bills, stealing their wages and rigging the system. There is no feminist case for scaring people into adopting A.I.”

My mom worked at a preschool and daycare when I was growing up, so I had the joy of being raised not only by her, but by a whole cohort of strong, brilliant, and loving women. I had a lot of people who felt like home to me. We’re all better in community, even when it’s hard. Happy Mother’s Day
Walking around the lake today and a bald eagle flew directly overhead, only a few yards above us. In my whole life, I’ve never seen one there. Gotta be a good sign of…something!
Recently rewatched clips of this show for unrelated reasons and it was even funnier than I remembered
Only the old techniques such as animatronics & puppetry could create walking night terrors this lovable. CG cannot do this. James Cameron could never upset & intrigue me this much. AI doesn’t even have a chance. Only Jim Henson at the height of power drunkenness could do this.
