Founder of bootstrapped Simple Analytics — privacy first analytics. simpleanalytics.com

It’s one of those nights. Shipping a complete new marketing website for Simple Analytics. I promised to have all pages reviewed and fixed by tomorrow. 21/55 pages left. Wish me luck.

At Signalbase, our main developer is moving on. We hired a new developer the next day. How? We put in a lot of work finding a developer for Simple Analytics, and now we have a shortlist of amazing people. He starts next week. Putting a lot of time into the process can bear fruit in the future.

Wished I knew this 2 years earlier. Switching code editors a lot, but when clicking files in Finder it opens in your old editor. F*ck. Luckily, a tool called duti exists. Install it with brew, get the ID of your editor, and update groups of extensions at once.

We’re removing our public page with MRR and other stats. We’d need to rework it to add value, and we don’t really use it anymore. It has become legacy, and we don’t need it to build trust anymore.

While everybody is talking about safety in Europe, I found a way to never get those random white spaces on mobile, usually caused by some element being wider than you thought. Just add the Tailwind class `overflow-x-clip` to your `<body>`, and you’re set.

Looking for some freelancers that might help us with requests like these: Would you have the capacity to help us implement some additional ads / conversion tracking with Simple Analytics in Shopify? We would be happy to pay extra for your assistance with this.

We passed 35,000 users at Simple Analytics. Every month, around 1,000 new users sign up and use our product. Transparency notice: most of them are free users. We have 1,337 paying customers.

The SEO landscape has never changed when you just write for humans. People panic about every algorithm update. They chase tactics, restructure entire sites, hire consultants to decode the latest shift.

Simple Analytics became too reactive. We wait for customers to request features before building them. We delay infrastructure moves until a big deal demands it. The rebrand stays in the someday pile.

We just killed multilingual support at Simple Analytics. All of it. For the past few years, we've maintained content in 5 European languages. The theory made sense: we're a European privacy tool, GDPR is strongest here, why not speak to founders in their language? But the reality was brutal.

I just started bouncing every cold email from Gmail, Outlook, and similar addresses. To prevent me from going through email as a painful task, I just moved the effort to the sender. Just send from your own domain, and I will receive your email. Otherwise, you can instructions to do so.

I'm watching the OpenClaw hype cycle with the same feeling I had during the GPT wrapper boom. Everyone's setting up overnight workflows and celebrating because something automated happened. That dopamine hit is real. But I've seen this pattern before.

For years I thought the data gaps in Google Analytics were my fault. Maybe I misconfigured something. Maybe the tracking code broke. Maybe I was missing a filter. Then cookie banners became mandatory, and the picture cleared up fast. Traffic kept flowing to the site.

Attribution should help teams make decisions faster. In GA4, it often does the opposite. More models. More rules. More meetings debating which number is right. Meanwhile, the actual work waits.

Ever notice how something as simple as top pages became hard to answer in GA4? What used to be a default view now needs events, configurations, and a dashboard you have to explain before you can trust it.

Ever notice how cookieless analytics platforms still show cookie banners? Turns out, most aren't actually cookieless. They've just moved tracking to localStorage, fingerprinting, or server-side methods. Still tracking individuals. Still need consent.

At Simple Analytics, we are about to triple our data ingestion and Elasticsearch can't easily handle what we need next. Looking for a Clickhouse engineer who can act like a DevOps too. Going from 2-3k events/s to 10k/s and need features that aren't easy in our current setup. Who can help us scale?

If you have a WhatsApp or Signal user's phone number, you can discreetly determine when their phone is locked, whether they are on WiFi or cellular, and if they are currently using the app. This vulnerability has been known since 2024. www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHE...

Markdown is great for developers who think in syntax. But calling it user-friendly? That's just us projecting our preferences onto everyone else. Most people want to see what they're writing, not memorize formatting rules.

The 9-5 grind was invented by people who peak at 9am, and the rest of us have been pretending ever since. Right now it's 11pm, I'm at a hotel café with wine and my laptop, and I've done more in a few hours than I did all day.
