In NYC, the median number of floors, in all boroughs except Manhattan: 2 The median zoning Floor-Area-Ratio in the city: 1.0 But buildings close to transit can be tall, right? No! 452K lots out of 890K are within 0.5 miles of mass transit. Median FAR for these lots: 2.1

Both of these banks across the street from each other in Fort Greene have a handful of parking spaces. It's a surprising use of space. I don't know how to find parking spaces like this in existing NYC data sets, but I'd like to map out this kind of surface parking. (430 Myrtle & 164 Clinton Ave)

Spent a few hours at the Manhattan Criminal Court observing an attempted murder trial and some arraignments. It was incredibly fascinating and surprisingly dramatic. The courtrooms were basically empty. I'm surprised more people don't sit in on trials given the popularity of True Crime documentaries
