Today, we’re publicly sharing that Dual Wield Studio has reached the difficult decision to conduct layoffs. This is not done lightly; our core ethos prioritizes taking care of our team above all. Candidly, layoffs reflect a failure of leadership sufficiently planning and acting in service of the team. Last year, our current Leadership became aware of our company having operated at a significant income deficit for several years. We informed our team of this concern, and did what we could to mitigate it as much as possible, including the seniormost highest-paid members of Leadership deferring significant owed pay in order to extend more funds to our team. Despite this, without more drastic action, our trajectory endangered our ability to reasonably continue to fairly compensate our team or support them in the event of financial insolvency. Layoffs are that drastic action. Full-time employees impacted by the layoff will receive 6 months severance pay, 6 months medical benefits, and 6 months of tailored outplacement support, with comparable severance offered to our incubation business project contributor. If we cannot continue to fairly employ people, we believe we should at least do what we can to help them find their next job. We’re heartbroken to send away folks who have been part of what makes our team so special, and are committed to doing all we can to sustain Dual Wield Studio by learning from our mistakes to do better. I’m so sad to share that I was affected by these layoffs, and will no longer be with my beloved Dual Wield Studio as of the end of this month. I can’t describe how good they’ve been to me; more than an employer, they’ve been my friends.

dawg i just realized with destiny end of service that means no more in studio merch this is such an actual loss, bungie has consistently had some pretty decent merch that didn't want to make me yell

fall guys warlock plush. yes this gets put here because the construction on this is like, kinda insanely detailed? it was absolutely worth the og price bc ppl very clearly dont know how much a plush like this costs lolllllllthe palladium collabs went crazy ngl, like bungie had consistently gotten some really good collabs. like the chrome industries bags go soooo crazy like whoever was in charge of getting these collabs you are so good at your jobdeck of whispers tarot deck. very cool deck def grab this if you have to buy something from the storethe raid root of nightmares raid jacket. mannnnnnnnnn these were soooo good i cant believe they laid off the guy in charge of the jackets

Saying one of the most prolific live service titles “fell short of expectations” in a massive layoff announcement is a slap in the face to every dev and every player who knows how much Destiny meant in an industry where longevity is rare. Whose expectations did it fail? The investors? The execs?

I've been affected by the layoffs sweeping across Bungie. I have a lot of feelings about how things went down, but mainly I'm grateful for the talented people I've worked with closely. Grateful to have had this opportunity as my first industry job. You may be seeing me more often from now on. 🖤
