Trump aims to make as many Black and Brown people as possible eligible for deportation, and to erase immigrant communities from the very country their work, culture, and sacrifice helped shape—see, ending TPS for Haitians and Syrians. Our aim: Ensure New Yorkers know our rights.

A tragic crash took place near our office in the David N. Dinkins Municipal Building. We suggest New Yorkers avoid the area in front of the building (Chambers & Centre Street) and that City workers utilize the rear entrance. Traffic violence is too close to home for all of us.

We mourn with 12-year-old Jacob Freytes' family. Nothing could be more tragic: An innocent child on his bike, killed by a stray bullet. Our children's safety is our collective responsibility. We must meet this crisis by urgently implementing the strategies proven to make us safer.

Too many New Yorkers are in fear, just for being who they are, for the faith that they have. That, universally, should be unacceptable to all of us—not just in words, but in action. The increase in hate crimes, and Thursday’s violence, show the work is not finished.

You should be able to walk down the street, and be Jewish, or Asian, and not be afraid. Yesterday was a painful day, with two New Yorkers brutally stabbed. Communities are in pain—understandably so—and hate crimes are up. And it's our collective responsibility to address that.

ICE was reported in Flatbush, and the community mobilized to protect our neighbors. With TPS for Haiti, and work authorizations, ending as early as Monday, it's critical we know our rights and bear witness, in Little Haiti and across the city.

Our city can’t focus on Legionnaire's Disease only when case counts are rising. There are things we know, like the symptoms and transmission, and things we should—like how this keeps happening. Remember: Seeking medical treatment as soon as possible can be lifesaving.

No words can lessen the pain of losing Ousmane Diallo, at just 24 years old. But the solace we find in community helps us share the grief. We joined advocates to uplift the Diallo family, and remember a remarkable young man who will inspire young people for years to come.

We mourn with the family of Sgt. Angel Rampersad, who was killed in action. Her years of service and brave sacrifice make New Yorkers proud. The lives of our selfless service members must be protected through a foreign policy that values peace.
