Our greenhouse lights/fixtures need to be replaced. What light systems are newer university/commercial greenhouses using these days? Are we shifting to LEDs and away from high pressure sodium?

Floral color evolution, pollination & speciation. Silene, Caryophyllaceae. Really likes plant pigments. she/her Assistant Professor of Biology at JMU
Hooray! Check out this special issue for some fantastic new work on flower color!

Please share! Our lab is recruiting a PhD student to join us starting fall 2026. Our group is broadly interested in plant molecular evolution and comparative genomics. More info about our lab and grad programs at Colorado St. is available on our lab website. sites.google.com/site/danielb...

Welcome! Our research focuses on the evolutionary process at the molecular level. In particular, we investigate how a mixture of natural selection and non-adaptive forces create and maintain the amazi...

As a Harvard international graduate student… I’m sad. And scared. Really scared.
Harvard has just under 6,800 foreign students enrolled. Every one of them would have to give up their dreams of an education in the US or transfer elsewhere, if Noem's attack on Harvard is upheld. None of them have done anything wrong, they're just collateral damage to Trump.
🌼The first episode of the BSA's new podcast---A Botanical Podcast!---is now available on all major streaming services!🌼 In this episode, Andrea Berardi explores the #evolution of flower color & why plants change their colors. www.buzzsprout.com/admin/244699... #botany #plantscience #iamabotanist
Check this out! Latest pub from the Hopkins lab, and the brainchild of @patrickmckenzie.bsky.social !
Hot off the presses and so so thrilled. Thanks to @inaturalist.bsky.social + computer vision we found something beautifully simple: Red and orange flowers bloom later than all the other colors in the eastern United States. Paper here: authors.elsevier.com/a/1kwzh3QW8S...
Going to do some hummingbird pollination observations this spring, and exploring having backup camera/photos to supplement in-person observations. Curious if anyone has successfully used camera traps/game cameras to capture hummers? Don't want to use regular video cameras if I can help it.
I am excited to share that I will be joining the Department of Biology at James Madison University as an assistant professor this fall! Looking forward to starting my lab, where we will study floral color evolution, Silene speciation, and plant pollinator interactions! #newPI
