The Petal music video has me thinking about Japanese shadow play (Kageboushi) & specifically some of the scenes from Hiroyuki Nakano's Samurai Fiction... which then inspired Tarantino's Kill Bill.

Something that unexpectedly hit me like a gut punch was Thank You Next coming on right after the end of Petal. That song has so much, "I've been through heartbreaks and sadness but I'm betting on me and my future," in it. Petal has none of Ari's FUTURE as a person, or healing, just legacy, memory.
