Checking out a few restaurants online in Palma and this caught my eye on one menu! "Grilled squid caught by jigging"🦑
Watched first two episodes of new series "Kabul" on BBC iPlayer last night. Very good. Harrowing & expect it will become more so over the remaining episodes.
Ted tonight. Hoping not to be disappointed!!🤞⚽
Photo on FB Memories earlier from 16 years ago today. No.1 in mortar board & clock after graduation ceremony with his Mum & me. The outfit Mrs. M is wearing in the snap was worn by her last week. She's cheap to run!!😱
Anyone known of a central Palma hotel or apartment that doesn't require a 2nd mortgage to have for 3 nights in early September over a weekend. Everything is either gone or the price is not right!!
Back in March our car insurance renewal dropped down £50 or so to £199. Pet insurance renewal quote just came in for one x-breed mutt & a rescue moggie. No claims in the last year or ever. It's gone up by £162 to £482!!!!!!! Anyone recommend a pet insurer who are not grifters?🐕 🐈⬛
No.2 son started new job this morning. A bit nervous we think but so he's got this. They head hunted him so nervousness not required. Saatchi&Saatchi dontcha know! #proud
Three long lunches out, over 3 consecutive days did for us. We were in bed by 8.30pm last night, asleep not long after and didn't wake until 7am today. #gettingold
The terrible fires currently burning over southern Europe reminded me of South Australia in Feb83. Ash Wednesday. My bro's partner's dad, Dave, was Chief Station Officer of the Country Fire Service in Burnside in the Adelaide Hills. The CFS was a volunteer service like the RNLI.
Emirates A380 heading for LGW just rearranged our roof tiles. Rude!
Anyone got any Uzbek wine they want to shift or know where I might find some in the UK?
Today it's Swiss National Day and Yorkshire Day which is fine. It's also National Girlfriend Day. Why so?🤷 Swiss Day+1 lunch at a Swiss friend's house tomorrow. A raclette the size of a mammoth with be slowly melted on a proper job raclette machine to enjoy with cold meats and boiled spuds & wine. 🧀
10.05pm in West Kent . There’s a moon, bad or otherwise, rising behind the trees down the small valley behind our house. Night all.
Has @kevinakam.bsky.social's new windscreen fallen out?
Still have some shredded leftover slow roasted, in Palestinian spices, lamb from Sunday. Making a cheat's ragu with extra onions, carrots and toms to have on pappardelle tonight. A cheeky little Montepulciano to go with it. Saluti!! 🍷
Having a 10 month old girl here is much much more tiring than having her 20 month old boy cousin. Shattered we are!
As it's a bit nippy I've made a stew for dindins. Hake, prawns, Jersey Royal chunks, shallot, garlic, fennel seeds, oregano & smoked paprika. Toms, baby Swiss Chard thinnings and parsley from her patch. Bit of white rioja. Fish stock. Mrs. M's homemade ciabatta to mop up. Could be in Granada!
Middle one was asked if he could attend a monthly meeting in London at his new agency today. He wasn't best pleased given the heat at having to commute in. He seemed a bit miffed as he doesn't start his employment there until Monday. #BrowniePoints
I can recall who was asking about Rome yesterday but this is in the paper today.
San Lorenzo: Rome’s rebel neighbourhood shaped by resistance, art and students
This overlooked quarter swaps the grandeur of tourist-saturated central Rome for murals, graffiti, cheap eateries and a working-class rhythm
