Adley Rutschman said the last 24 hours have been full of emotions. He said he wanted to give Orioles fans many thank-yous. “It’s a lot of unbelievable memories and I made a lot of great friends for life. It’s some tough goodbyes, but we’re onto the next thing and excited to be here.”

Mike Elias maintains that the Orioles have very good players, a strong farm system, and "a lot of things going for us." Elias noted this season and last has been disappointing, but said: "The future is strong, and I think it starts right now."

Followed up on this point. Mike Elias said the Orioles still have a shot to make the postseason, "and these guys can do it. There have been a lot of examples in recent years" of late surges after the trade deadline. Elias noted, though, that they are in a "bad position"

Mike Elias said the Orioles are still aiming at the postseason this season. "We did not dismantle the team," he said. But he acknowledged there was a healthy amount of selling with 2027 in mind.

Mike Elias said the Orioles "have a lot more talent in our organization" based on the moves made today, such as trading away Adley Rutschman. "I really believe this was the right move ... with the goal of sustaining a high-caliber level of play over many seasons."
