Today, the PROTECT Act is law. 💙 President Tang and @btu66.bsky.social President Berg were proud to join legislative leaders and advocates today as @massgovernor.bsky.social Healey signed some of the nation’s strongest protections for immigrants into law.
On 7/24, AFT MA locals joined in solidarity with LUCE to hold a 24-hour vigil on the steps of the MA State House to honor those that have lost their lives to ICE violence. We asked educators, librarians, and organizers why they turned out to support the vigil and why they fight for immigrant rights.

Today the PROTECT Act advanced out of Committee, and is expected to be on the Governor’s desk ready to be signed into law by the end of this week! Thank you to each of you who spoke up and advocated to help move a strong PROTECT Act forward!

🚨R+ has passed the Senate!! At 12:05pm today, the MA Senate voted 39-0 to pass Retirement Plus, legislation that would enable up to 8,000 of our state’s longest-serving educators to buy back into a retirement system they were left our of due to a confusing and bungled rollout.
ICYMI, we joined Senate President Karen Spilka and Senate leadership today as they announced that Retirement Plus will be brought to the floor for a vote TOMORROW!! As Sen. Brownsberger pointed out, this important step is the result of deep collaboration and grassroots advocacy!
