“Explanatory notes are written by civil servants.” We would like to clarify that nobody on the a:gender Executive Committee was involved in the writing of these notes. clareflourish.wordpress.com/2021/10/09/a...
Anti-trans discrimination and the Explanatory Notes to the Equality Act
Can a group counselling session simply kick out any trans women, because the organisers think the cis women would not want them there? Having lost on the meaning of the Equality Act, the anti-trans…

1/🧵 I welcome the Equality Minister’s timely remarks on the single-sex service exceptions. It confirms what revisionists vilified as “Stonewall law” is really just the law of the UK. Inclusion is the default position, but it’s not mandatory in all situations.
A big hello to all our new followers and thanks for following us, but where on earth are you all coming from?! Are we in the newspapers again? 😂
We will be asking our colleagues at ONS to take account of our views on this important issue. blog.ons.gov.uk/2024/12/11/d...
Developing harmonised standards for sex and gender identity
We are launching a new phase of work towards developing harmonised standards for sex and gender identity data collection. Here Emma Rourke reflects on our work so far, the best practice approach we wi

Hi 👋🏼 If you’re new to Bluesky and wish to mute or block accounts that are transphobic, we’ve found some blocklists that you can subscribe to: bsky.app/profile/did:... bsky.app/profile/did:... bsky.app/profile/did:...
“The social media site X has become the preferred vector for conspiracy theories, racism, far-right ideas and misogynistic rhetoric”
This is huge. The EFJ represents over 295,000 journalists in 44 countries 👇 www.thelondoneconomic.com/news/media/e...
The absolute best thing about this, of course, is that it continues to be false. There are no such rights. Never have been. There's a right *not to be discriminated against because of your sex*, but it's the SAME right that applies to other people for other reasons.
While well-intentioned and useful for some, I don’t think blocklists will stop the flow of new accounts created specifically to harass trans people. But I think some other things cis allies can do is uplift and include trans users & combat hateful replies with supportive ones
This is becoming a real issue. One member of a ‘gender-critical’ organisation called us “noncey” for sharing a tweet from our colleagues at the Department for Education, from his anonymous account.
This is a great point. We have “gender critical” colleagues who have *on record* stated that they advocate for workplace policies that would not allow people to enter toilets based on their “identity” (gender), but that’s *exactly* what transphobic colleagues would also do.
We’ve been added to this amazing “Trans Rights Advocates” starter pack and we’re tickled pink! Make sure to follow these accounts 🏳️⚧️🦋
Trans advocates and other supportive allies… a starter pack! Let me know who else should be added. #transrights #protecttranskids go.bsky.app/2XP8Tk7
It’s Trans Day of Remembrance and we’re holding our usual online vigil to remember those we have lost this year. If you’re a civil servant and wish to attend, please email agender@agender.org.uk from your work address and we’ll send you the link.
Ooh, we’ve hit three figures in followers 😂 We don’t mind being a small account on here but if you’d like to help us find more followers, please like & share? 🙏

Good to see this article from the Telegraph acknowledging our survey that found up to 87% of our members feel they experience potentially unlawful harassment when ‘gender critical’ beliefs are articulated in their workplace… archive.vn/2023.09.24-0...
Thanks to the FDA union for allowing us to contribute to their trans-inclusion policy position statement 🥰
