I’ve become obsessed with the Psychonauts 2 documentary, I was a backer for the original Double Fine Adventure in 2012 but one this goes far more in depth on a much larger project! The highlight for me so far is seeing the creative process at DF through the eyes of the new level designer, James.

I gave in and finally bought myself a Switch 2! I just had to play the Star Fox remake!! I got DK Bananza as well 😀

The reason PC gamers accepted digital only is because we’ve always had to install games to the hard drive. The disc was just there for copy protection, and it was a hassle to deal with when the data was already on the PC. Being able to download and immediately run the game was far more convenient.

I just sold my Valve Index while it’s still worth something. It’s the end of an era but I won’t miss dealing with cables, base stations and GPU/display port bugs! Hopefully the rumours are true and the Steam Frame comes out this month!

The worst part of coming back to Deltarune after a year is that the difficulty curve continues straight on from Ch4. I keep dying to the first mini boss, I’m so out of practice 😂

The Steam Machine is only 6” on each side. Mini-itx motherboards are 6.7” square, and the casing will add a lot more. You physically can’t build a PC with comparable performance at the same size. So even at that price, it’s tempting 🤔

I heard there’s some nutters on Twitter who installed Linux Tomb Raider in an Android VM… and they’re saying because the fps is a bit higher on Linux the devs knew what they were doing but mobile is a cash grab. …who wants to tell them? 😂 (Oh yeah we released Tomb Raider for mobile last week! 🥳)

When spellcheck does the red squiggly line, I’ll keep retyping the word by hand until I spell it right. There’s some things where I still want to use my own brain, instead of letting a computer do it for me.

I always knew that Linux would eventually become a great desktop OS after seeing the continuous improvements over the years. What I could have never predicted is Microsoft becoming hellbent on self destruction with AI and forced cloud BS!! Linux is better solely because Windows got so much worse!

I used to copy my homework to the old PC under my desk that I ran as a home server. I would then go to school, type my IP address into a browser, download and print it out. There were so many things that could have gone wrong with this whole process, but somehow it did not fail me even once!

I’ve come back to Ubuntu after a long time, why the hell does ‘apt install cmake’ install the snap package behind my back, and not the apt package like I asked? At the very least ask me!! If someone’s using the command line then trust that they’re tech literate enough to make the right decision.

That NES emulator test video by 100thCoin motivated me to work on my own emulator some more. Implementing CPU opcodes is a real slog but I’m making progress.

I lost the last couple of commits to my local git repo because my cloud sync server had a conflict! That’s never happened before!! Luckily I didn’t lose any real work, it reverted to having the changes uncommitted..

I got Half-Life 1 in 2003, and it 100% lived up to all the hype. I adored its map editor, whereas other engines were impenetrable to 16 yo me. After HL2 released I spent many evenings modding the Source engine. It was such a huge influence on me as a game dev. I can’t believe it’s been 20 years!
