The Digital Omnibus reopens central parts of the GDPR. Aida Ponce Del Castillo argues changes to foundational legal concepts have consequences that reach well beyond the regulation itself.

The GDPR is one of the foundations of Europe's digital model. It protects people. Today, that foundation is at stake. Core safeguards should not be weakened, diluted, or traded away in pursuit of simplification or the promise of AI-driven innovation.
