AIML congratulates 2 of our members who have both received recent recognitions. Assoc Prof Xin Yu was awarded an ARC Future Fellowship, valued at $1.17 mil; and Assoc Prof Melissa McCradden & her iscribe team won the Excellence in Health Support Services award at the 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗪𝗖𝗛𝗡 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀.

On 4 September, AIML welcomed 33 students from the Adelaide Robotics and Computer Science Academy (ARCSA) for a hands-on workshop exploring robotics research. Thank you to our student ambassadors and robotics research groups for presenting, and to the ARCSA students for engaging with AIML.

AIML members A/Prof Johan Verjans , A/Prof Dr Emily Kirkpatrick, and Dr Anthony Porter recently contributed to a discussion at the Central Adelaide Local Health Network (CALHN) Medical Grand Round on 1 September on the implementation of AI scribes across South Australian hospitals. Well done all!

This week, AIML hosted the first Responsible AI Impact Challenge (RAIIC) Showcase, an initiative of the RAIR Centre. The Showcase brought together primary (Year 6) and secondary (Years 7-9) students to address the ethical risks of AI as well as the role of human judgement in responsible AI use.

Joining forces with the Visual Effects Society, AIML hosted 'Movie Magic - Machine Learning Behind the Scenes' before a packed crowd at the AIML atrium last Friday. The event, featuring Adelaide's leading VFX studios, allowed attendees to network and discuss how AI is transforming filmmaking.
