Making Hardware less hard for everyone. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️🇪🇺

Maker Days Eindhoven is next weekend, 12 & 13 Sept, 11:00 to 18:00 at the Klokgebouw on Strijp-S. Hundreds of projects and the people who built them, like an eight-metre robot made of recycled parts and an arena where self-built machines take each other apart. 😼 #MakerDays website: en.makerdays.nl/

Anyone here, who'd like to visit the Maker Faire Hannover this weekend and doesn't have a ticket yet? Please drop me a pm 🧡

It's International Cat Day, on a Saturday. Cat tax below. 😻 Cats are responsible for a lot of hardware. Automatic feeders, flaps that open for one registered chip. Litter trays on a load cell, LED ear headbands, ... What have you built for a cat that made it to a manufactured board?

Half of all PCB Design-pain starts in the library. 🥲 New 3-part series with Petr Dvořák (#ThatKiCadGuy). Part 1: global vs. project-specific libraries + drawing a custom symbol (a 3-phase bridge rectifier) from a datasheet with the AISLER Lovely Library. ▶ youtu.be/fmwMzdV9XGk Free & CC-BY-SA:

Global or project-specific? Where you keep your KiCad symbols decides whether 'Future You' can actually find them.In part 1 of 3, Petr Dvořák (#ThatKiCadGuy)...

RIP the €150 duty-free parcel. Now it's a flat €3 per tariff heading (not per parcel!). No pre-clearance? The carrier fronts it and catches you at the door. DHL's fee: €7.50 extra. 🙃 Good news: There's nothing to charge if it never leaves EU. 🇪🇺 Your AISLER orders are not affected. 🧡 #PCB #MadeInEu

Guidance and legal text on temporary flat fee on low-value imports which will apply until 1 July 2028

From 1 July 2026, the EU will apply a temporary €3 customs duty per item on low-value consignments (up to €150) imported from outside the EU, abolishing the duty exemption applicable until 30 June 2026.

so not labelling the parts was a mistake, and making a test board as dense as the final product is always a mistake, so I added more test points! (boards from @aisler.net, NNNI26 for €10 off year-round, multiple times!)

Important notice regarding the current weather: Watch your operating temperature! Drink plenty of water and don't exceed your absolute maximum ratings. 🥵

A four-panel comic-style meme. The character is a cartoon illustration of a girl with pink hair, a red bow, and sunglasses. The meme uses the classic Drake two-panel comparison of rejecting one idea in favour of another, more humorous idea.

The top two panels (Row 1) show the girl character with a grumpy expression and a hand-up "no" or "disapprove" gesture. Next to her, in text on a white background, are the words: "Heating up the soldering iron." This represents the standard, labor-intensive method.

The bottom two panels (Row 2) show the same character, now smiling broadly, pointing in approval. Sparkling effects surround her head. Next to her, in text on a white background, are the words: "Just putting the PCB outside in the sun with some solder paste." This represents the absurd and impossible alternative. The meme is a joke about avoiding the effort of soldering by dreaming an impossible solution to solder with the 2026 summer heat. Created by AISLER, a PCB Manufacturing and Assembly Service for Large batches and Prototypes.

Who else has sent their referral code to the group chat three times this week? 😅 No shame, we've all been there. And it's actually a decent deal: your mate gets €10 off their first PCB order, you get €10 store credit once it ships. Do it as many times as you want, nobody's stopping you.

Bernie Sanders Meme, saying "I am once again asking for your fincancial support"

This is the Raspberry Pi CM4S carrier that I designed during the KiCad Live Stream sessions. I made a few mistakes. The biggest I've identified so far is that the HDMI is too close to both sideways USB Type-C ports. That's a big issue because you can't plug the standard HDMI cable into it.

always remember to order a stencil with your PCBs! I tried smearing paste on the board here, but the results were blobby 🤰 (if you get your PCBs from @aisler.net, use NNNI26 for €10 off year-round! 😳)
