Honest take for a small Rails app: a VPS is great if you enjoy sysadmin work. OS patches, Postgres, SSL, Puma tuning: all yours. If you'd rather just ship, shared hosting with guaranteed RAM & CPU gives you most of the control without the babysitting 💎 #rails

It's past midnight here in Finland, so that's a wrap for today 🌙 Good night to all the builders still pushing commits. Rest is part of the process too.

Good morning to all the builders, indie hackers and solopreneurs ☀️ One small step forward today is enough. Building in public too? Follow me and I’ll follow back. Let’s make this place buzz with makers 🤝

Good night to all the builders, indie hackers and solopreneurs out there 🌙 Ship something tomorrow, even if it’s small. Building in public too? Give me a follow and I’ll follow back. Let’s grow this corner of Bluesky together 🤝

🎉 2 down, 8 to go! The first early adopters have joined Enkihost, a Ruby PaaS built by Rubyists. 8 spots left: 3 months free hosting, ~11s deploys from GitHub/GitLab, in exchange for honest feedback. 💎 enkihost.com

Shipped something new today: Enkihost now deploys straight from GitLab 💎 Connect your repo, push, and your Ruby or Rails app is live. Small feature, but it makes the whole flow feel a lot smoother. enkihost.com

Founder lesson from yesterday: I pasted the same pitch into every “share your project” on X thread. Result: fewer followers, zero users. Turns out people can tell when you’re talking at them instead of to them. Back to real conversations.

Good morning from Finland ☕ Slow Sunday here: coffee first, then a bit of Rails. What are you all working on today? Morning! It’s already getting dark early here in Finland 🍂 How’s your Sunday going?

Rails tip: add config.active_record.query_log_tags_enabled = true and your SQL logs show which controller/action ran each query. Hunting N+1s gets much easier.

Rails folks: where do you host your side projects these days, and what annoys you most about it? Asking because I’m building a Ruby host and want to fix the right problems.

Building Enkihost: small, independent Ruby hosting made by Rubyists 💎 Looking for my first 10 users. Free for 3 months + I’ll migrate your Rails app myself. enkihost.com

enkihost.com just got a full redesign 💎 A terminal-style site for a Ruby-only host: Rails, Sinatra & Jekyll, git push to deploy, zero-downtime releases, auto SSL and managed Postgres. Jekyll blogs free, 14-day trial for Rails apps. enkihost.com

Got deploys on Enkihost down to 11 seconds (from ~1m). ⚡ Push, blink, it's live. Ruby hosting should feel this fast. Next target: full git builds. 👀 enkihost.com

Deploy times have been on my mind lately. 💎 I'm reworking how Enkihost ships Ruby apps: fewer wasted steps, smarter caching, less waiting around. Rubyists: what's the most annoying part of deploying for you? I'd love to fix it. enkihost.com

Question for Rubyists: what's the most annoying part of deploying a Rails app these days?

Rails Monitoring for Developers: Snippets and Hosting Choices Monitor four signals in every Rails app: database queries and N+1 patterns, request latency at p95 and p99, background job health, and unhandled exceptions... Read more → enkilabs.site/rails/ruby/m...

Before picking a tool, know what you are actually trying to see. Rails apps fail in a handful of predictable ways, and each one leaves a different fingerprint.

Long week building Enkihost 🛠️ Shipped a lot, slept a little. Today the laptop stays closed, the coffee stays hot, and I'm doing absolutely nothing. Rest is part of the work too. ☕

Doctor: "You need to rest." Me: keeps working Also me today: completely drained. 🫠
