European. Virtue Signaller. History nerd. Trying to save the world: mixed results so far. I think the UK has probably run its course as a union of four nations. Views are all my own.

I'm sure there will be faux outrage at some of the less tasteful responses to Rod Liddle's death. But you know what? Don't spend your life being a horrible cunt and people might not celebrate your passing. Rod Liddle contributed *nothing* of value.

No serious news outlet should be giving coverage to this proposal, unless accompanied by a clear explanation of why it’s completely unworkable and would be a disaster for the UK, if anyone did ever try to implement it.

heard an interview recently with an anonmyous wall street bro who said his employer would not subscribe to the president's truth social insider trading scheme because they did not want to go to prison when the rule of law returns

I used to work near one of Rod Liddle’s preferred lunchtime restaurants and would often catch him exiting as I was heading home. Once saw him “live life to the full” all down his front and over his shoes.

Wildfires and heatwaves aren't a single country's problem, and no tariff will block toxic smoke. In 2026, over 900 active wildfires have burned millions of hectares across North America, while Europe experiences its fastest warming rate of any continent. Climate change doesn't care about geopolitics.

Andy Burnham correctly points out in an interview that small boat crossings are massively down this year compared with last. The comments in the post are filled with people suggesting he is lying about this very clear, data-evidenced fact. It’s almost as though they don’t want it to he true…

MAGA America’s Make-A-Wish president wants the world to know he’s living his best life right now - even while everybody else in the US has to deal with a cost of living crisis.

Having watched "The Odyssey" earlier this evening, my view that Christopher Nolan is overrated as a filmmaker is unchanged. "The Return", starring Ralph Fiennes as Odysseus and Juliette Binoche as Penelope, is better.
