Colors (Red, White, and Blue): The use of the same colors as the American flag was deliberate. It serves as a reminder that enslaved people and their descendants are Americans, and honors the day they were finally recognized as citizens under the law.The Center Star: The five-point star represents Texas (the "Lone Star State") where the holiday originated, as well as the freedom of enslaved people in all 50 states.The Starburst: The white outline/burst extending from the center star represents a "new star" being born—symbolizing a new beginning and a bright future for Black Americans.The Arc: The sweeping arc across the background represents a new horizon, opportunity, and hope for the future

Inspired by #Artemis I recreated the Translunar/Transearth trajectory chart from Apollo 11 (the original is signed by Buzz Aldrin and Charlie Duke)

recreation of the apollo 11 translunar/transearth chart. It shows the position of the moon during July and August 1969, with a distance scale at50, 100, 150 and 200,000 nautical miles and the trajectory to and from the moon. #DuboisChallenge2026 Week 8: Yet another way to the distribution of Black people in America, this chart uses number of people per square mile, ranging from 15-15 in southern states like Georgia and Mississippi, to less than 1 person/square mile in the west and upper mid-west.
