This week at #boardgames night we played Cthulhu: Death may Die. Its a really pulpy, tongue-in-cheek co-op with a lot of replayability. Our mission was to arm moose with dynamite, so that when an alien ship beamed them aboard, they'd explode. Dagon was involved somehow. We failed, unfortunately.

Pumpkinbowl roundup: Very well run tournament in a lovely venue in Bristol. I would play the Renegades + Borak roster again. The mino was good, never wished he was a rat ogre. I finished 4-0-2 for 6th place out of 46. Congrats to AndyDavo for taking home the win with Norse. #bloodbowl

R6 of Pumpkinbowl vs Loki's halflings with Maple and Jordell. One of the funniest endings to a game I've played. I go 2-0 up with only 4 turns to play. But Loki does the TTM TD, then 2-turns later when Jordell cage dives me and scores, despite having to pass loner twice and 1-die pow my blodger.

R4 of pumpkinbowl vs James' orcs. A Solid Defence on kickoff let me load the line and run some players round. He never got the ball in a solid cage and Borak popped the ball free. I score in his drive, then I score in 4 turns on mine to win 2-0. Pic is after the kickoff event! #bloodbowl

R3 of pumpkinbowl vs tsitsos's Skaven. Lovely chap but he's quite new to the game and my 4 mighty blow triggers a lot, doing 5 casualties to the rats. I win 1-0 to end day 1 with 2 wins and a loss. #bloodbowl

R2 of pumpkinbowl vs Aaron's Brets with Mighty Zug. 1st half I score but he is playing very slowly. I put out a clock. 2nd half he scores on T2 but during my return drive he runs out of time so I can walk it in to win 2-1. He wasn't very happy; awkward ending. #bloodbowl

It's pumpkinbowl this weekend, a 2-day #bloodbowl tournament with about 50 players. I've picked the spiky team of Chaos Renegades with Lord Borak the Despoiler. Roster choices are trying to fully commit to gaining a numbers advantage.

I've had a couple of #boardgames nights where we've played Root. The first game was ill-advised, as we went straight in to some expansion races (I played the badger knights) and our vagabond player didn't grok his character so I had a, admittedly fun, battle with just the moles.

My Slann #bloodbowl team didn't have enough linemen so I got some more and painted them up. 12 should be enough now. These were done speedily: contrast paints and retributor armour, then a purple oil wash and sponge-wipe, finally some further darklining and the eyes. #minipainting

This week at #boardgames night we played Spirit Island. This time a new player joined our regular group to make it a 5-player game. I was Sharp Fangs Behind the Leaves and we played vs level 1 Russia. My beast creation helped vs Russia. We won but I had a headache by the end!

I painted up this #bloodbowl Minotaur for my Chaos Renegades team. I'll be playing them at my next tournament, and want to try it out instead of the rat ogre. The pink was done with the help of some fluorescent pigments that I added to a medium. #minipainting

Tonight was the quarter final of my league, where my lizards faced Joe's renegades. 2 cas on the LoS helped my cause! I ran out of rerolls so scored early, but Joe couldn't reply before the half. He scored early in 2nd half but I put it in on T16 to win 2-1 and advance to the semis #bloodbowl

At #boardgames night this week someone brought my favourite game Agricola, so I was quick to jump in to a 4-player game. I got some occs that liked taking wood and a Mason that extended my house to 5 stone rooms. A good time was had by all and the 2 new players enjoyed it.

Tonight at 2-player #boardgames night we played 3 roll/flip and writes: we finished our Welcome to the Moon campaign, started a campaign of My City roll and build, then finished with Cartographers (pictured). All were brilliant!

Got back to #parkrun this morning after a few months of hurty-knee stopping me. Got my worst ever time and tripped over a tree root, but happily my knee felt fine and the weather was great. Looking forward to getting back into it.

This week at #boardgames night we played Istanbul. It had been ages and I had to relearn it, but I did really love the movement in this game. Then we set it up and played it again with the coffee expansion, which was cool - wouldn't say it's a must-add but an interesting variation.

What happened to Amazons in the new #bloodbowl edition? They were virtually unchanged, but they are sensitive to meta changes. From the release of the Kara Tample Harpies in Oct 2022 to the end of BB2020 in Dec 2025, they had a 55.4% win rate from 16233 games. From bbtv.akorus.de:

Off Season round-up: I came 4/16 and amazingly won Most Touchdowns despite only getting 4 from 3 games! The highest was 5 from the runner up but that was passed down to me. Lost a few ratings points but still holding on to England's 2nd highest Orc ranking (it's the little things ...). #bloodbowl

R3 of Off Season vs MrToast's amazons. It goes very well, as I receive, remove some players, then score. He is struggling on his drive and after popping the ball loose, I somewhat showboat a TTM to win 2-0. I got 4 cas and he had 2 linewomen sent off. I finish the tournament 2-0-1. #bloodbowl.

R2 of Off Season vs gcoleman76's Chaos. I overcommit on his drive and he hands off to run past my defense. On my drive I underestimate his wrestle beastman and he sacks the ball and wins 2-0. Played a bit rubbish! His beastman thick skull saved 4 of his players from KOs. #bloodbowl

R1 of Off Season vs Oscar's lizardmen in his first ever NAF game. He knew the rules really well but needs to play a bit more to get the strategy down. It ended 2-0 to me. #bloodbowl

Going to the Off Season #bloodbowl tournament tomorrow and taking these lads. I loved the old orc roster and I'm wary of this new one but I should give it a try. Can't just never play them again! #minipainting
