5/ In general, work that shortens feedback loops is the most valuable "metaproject" work that can be done on a project. Doesn't matter what feedback loop: testing, compiling, deploying, getting customer feedback, analyzing data, whatever

Vibe coding broke people's brains because they had a bad understanding of the software design process. The pop culture model goes something like this: start out with a sketch and then render that same idea in progressively finer detail. So when tools could "skip" to high detail, people went WOW.

It's interesting how "...or get left behind" never seems to be attached to a principle or practice in software development, only to technology. e.g., Teams who do big, infrequent releases really *are* getting left behind. But I don't recall any tech CEOs standing up on stage warning us about that.

Many EU member states are arguing for forcing WhatsApp to inspect all our photos w/AI. If the AI is in any “doubt” if it might be child pornography, your photo, location & other details get reported to Europol and a local police force. World's darkest and clearest skies at risk from industrial megaproject

On December 24th, AES Andes, a subsidiary of the US power company AES Corporation, submitted a project for a massive industrial complex for environmental impact assessment. This complex threatens the pristine skies above ESO’s Paranal Observatory in Chile’s Atacama Desert, the darkest and clearest of any astronomical observatory in the world [1]. The industrial megaproject is planned to be located just 5 to 11 kilometres from telescopes at Paranal, which would cause irreparable damage to astronomical observations, in particular due to light pollution emitted throughout the project’s operational life. Relocating the complex would save one of Earth's last truly pristine dark skies.
