I saw a webinar where a journo mentioned taking note in Excel and after trying it out ... I don't hate it. I wouldn't use it for interview notes but for connecting little story beats, dumping links and adding to-dos, it kinda works for me. Think white board or murder board.
Yglesias argument is obviously dumb and in bad faith but I always liked my history teacher's argument it was a gumbo: you can recognize the components but they've all added and absorbed flavor.
