First figure drawing session for a while. Thanks @sensitivityandpowr.bsky.social for these great poses! 😃
Couple of recent ink sketches of Bella and @goodknightruby.bsky.social Many thanks for the fantastic references 😃
Back to Romanesque for today's architectural sketch. One thing I love about cathedrals is how the arcades open onto more arches and the views are constantly changing. This is the south transept of Lund Cathedral seen from the nave Fineliner on A4 sketchbook paper
After I did somewhat well at my freehand Romanesque arches recently, I decided to try a Gothic one at Lund Klosterkyrkan. It was not so successful 🫤
Megaloceros giganteus, drawn in the Sedgwick Museum of Earth Sciences, Cambridge I wimped out of doing all the ribs and vertebrae 😅 But I was most interested in getting the leg bones right
The Romanesque nave of Ely Cathedral. Probably the hardest freehand perspective sketch I've done. I didn't really get the angle of the tops of the triforium arches
Ely cathedral. Interior to follow 😉
King's College, Cambridge. The great masterpiece of English perpendicular architecture
A trip today to the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge for lots of sculpture sketches! Aphrodite, Eros, Fortuna and Herakles, Ares or a doryphoros?, unknown, unknown (Aphrodite?), Hermes and Aphrodite?
The Cambridge University Observatory building, built in 1823. I had an office here once 😊 More freehand perspective in the sketchbook
Poses of 5–20 minutes from a life drawing session with @sensitivityandpowr.bsky.social Thanks Sol for the great session! 🙂
Arms! Thanks @1kwordsartandphoto.bsky.social for the powerful reference!
"Summoned" Fineliner and Derwent Arts Coloursoft pencils on A4 paper. Big thanks to @prisnexus.bsky.social and @1kwordsartandphoto.bsky.social for the great references! 😃
I was chilling in the crypt this afternoon, When my ears perceived a holy tune, For on this very day the altar was ordained, Nine centuries ago, it is maintained:
Lund University House today, drawn freehand
Some recent portrait sketches. I'm sticking to this cartoony style to try to get the overall proportions and values right and not get distracted by rendering Thanks to @1kwordsartandphoto.bsky.social @bellaciaobella.bsky.social and @helalight3.bsky.social for the lovely references!
The historical museum in Lund Freehand perspective is hard...
A quick portrait sketch from a beautiful reference by @bellaciaobella.bsky.social Thanks Bella for this fantastic reference!
Arise, arise, Riders of Théoden! Fell deeds awake, fire and slaughter! Spear shall be shaken, shield be splintered! A sword day, a red day, ere the Sun rises! Ride now! Ride now! Ride to Gondor! A quick and very messy charcoal sketch
I went out to draw the horses at the local stables 😊😊
I started this big A3 sheet earlier this year with four panels planned out. Did two a few months ago, and came back tonight to do panel three. Very out of practice and messed it up with indelible ink 🙄 Here's the unfinished work Big thanks to @bellaciaobella.bsky.social for the dreamy references!
We had a "Romanesque or Gothic" contest at work that Romanesque was losing badly, so here's Lund's beautiful cathedral to redress the balance Fineliner on A4 sketchbook paper
Some of the poses (5–20 minutes) from a life drawing session with @sensitivityandpowr.bsky.social Thanks Sol for these very varied poses. Really great session!
A recent drawing of @povinframes.bsky.social Thanks Anna for the great reference! 😃
The weather's finally turned nice after a winter that feels like it's lasted about two decades, so I went out to draw the local horses
