Ancient Voices is one of my proudest achievements as a CAS officer. It's been amazing to see classicists all over the world engage with us and (digitally) converge in Scotland. We hoped we would identify pockets of local learners here in our first iteration, but the global reach has been astounding!

CAS is pleased to announce that its Ancient Voices 2026 programme is open for registration and is more varied than ever! As part of our ever growing lineup, we are proud to offer Sanskrit for Classicists! Classes commence in June, so please sign up! classicalassociationscot.org/ancient-voic...

Great to see St Ambrose HS getting recognition, in the Scotland on Sunday, no less! It has been a privilege to help Emma navigate the path to GTCS accreditation in Classical Studies. Her success has been fantastic to see, and it's nice to see a Classics good news story making the national press!

Busy day of work around childcare, w/ a visit to Frogston PS in south Edinburgh to chat with the SLT about possible ancient offerings for pupils! Rounded off with a Curriculum Imorovement Cycle meeting hosted by @EducationScot, where I'm consulting as a 'Critical Friend' of Classical Language.

Papers done and packing almost complete for #CA2025. Might be packing a couple ancient-themed games in case any delegates find themselves at a loose end on Friday night! Counts as work, right?! 🤣 (And yes, I'm aware of the Greek script being butchered on the 'Elysium' box!)

Two boxed boardgames on a wooden surface: Elysium and Tigris & Euphrates.

I've received many enquiries from interested students around the world, which is brilliant. In order for this programme to run, however, our classes must be at a sufficient level to pay our expert tutors fairly. I hope anyone who is still thinking about enrolling will join us!

Time's running out to sign up for our 2025 AV prog. We've received many enquiries, & encourage folks who want to try their hand at ancient languages, in a supportive & friendly environment, to register with us ASAP. Registration will close soon, and we'll be seeing up our online classes next week.

Really happy to see AV2025 open! CAS is a small operation, and it's a lot of admin on top of my other jobs: there's always a bit of stress getting the moving parts together. This is always offset, though, by getting to work with amazing tutors, and seeing students enjoy our courses.

ANCIENT VOICES 2025 REGISTRATION OPEN! We are thrilled to announce the opening of our AV2025 Summer programme. This is being timed to run slightly earlier, so as not to clash directly with the Classical Association Conference in St Andrews. Info here: shorturl.at/GJJvI

I'm pleased to have played a role in bringing together a scheme which brings together the facilities of independent & higher education institutions, in the service of state school pupils nationwide. In light of dwindling numbers of Latinists in Scotland, in particular, this is a valuable scheme.

We are proud to introduce a new initiative designed to spur uptake of Latin and/or Classical Studies in Scottish state schools. SATCS is an unprecendented collaboration between state and independent sectors, offering virtual access to N5, Higher and Adv Higher courses run at The Glasgow Academy.
