Due to my core roster of podcasts being diminished atm due to ending, hiatuses or irregular release schedules, I'm in the market for some new stuff to try - any recommendations?

In today's table at the Quill & Quiver the party helped selecting a new guild scout, getting to choose between: - A poison dart frog Grung assassin - If Manny Jacinto was an academically exceptional monk - Middle aged halfling who was basically a mountie with big "Mom" energy who rides a St Bernard

So the other day I showed you the NPCs from the game I'm running at the store, and today I need YOU and youe idea. Mineral DeLancie here is a dwarven paladin (no specific oath yet), probs a bit of a disaster lesbian, and she needs an accent! Wanna avoid standard Dwarf tropes, give me your pitches!

A dwarven woman with an undercut and a raimbow dyed swoop across one eye, clad in heavy brass plate armour and with a warhammer resting over one shoulder. She has an eyebrow piercing over her left eye ans an expression which conveys a bit of wry attitude.

Spoilers for X-men 97 - S2e7 I feel like its a reflection of the state of our real world that when the antagonists have their ultimatum as "meet our demands or we will kill Graydon Creed", that is imo the epitomy of don't threaten me with a good time.

It was my fourth week running D&D at the Quill & Quiver in Corby on Sunday and we had 7 players this time! To allow for variable players each week, we are doing a West Marches style game with a guild rather than a set party.

The supporting cast of the D&D game at the Quill and Quiver bookshop featuring 3 skeletons with glowing orange eyes, a pale half-orc woman with glasses and a high collared purple dress, a bald eldeely man with a huge brush like grey moustache, a cheery looking black tiefling, a dwarf woman im brass armour with rainbow hair abd an undercut and a very crinkly goblin.

In rare bit of local news from me, some random guy built an (allegedly) structurally unsound 6 story appartment complex at the end of Kettering town centre without any planning permission and which he continued building after a High Court Ruling said it to be demolished back in 2023.

I must admit, I don't really think of my home county of Northamptonshire as a pretty one, it has the geography and ecology of a between place with no mountains nor sea nor great expanses of wilds. But that doesn't mean that sometimes it can't be beautiful.

A view over the landscape during golden hour in Northamptonshire, UK - a dirt track runs vertically into the distance on the right of the frame with forest to the right of that and a lens flaring sun setting behind that illuminates the mackerel sky above and the golden fields below.

The most alien thing about AI users to me is people using it to replace the bits of tasks which are fun and defined by the personal? Like, if you don't like the process of creating things, why do you want to create things?

My youtube algorithm is currently giving me a bunch of what I'm thinking of as micro "morality tales", the ones where its a pitched up artificial voice reading allegedly "real" reddit/social media posts and what a weirdass little genre?

Sometimes with a work in progress you focus on one area for a little while and it really starts to come together: before to the left, update to the right. He is looking more like Conquest than when I started which wasn't intentional.

Two versions of a painting of an old bald man with a a bristly moustache and scarred face with the right hand face being considerably more refined.

I took a different route yesterday to avoid roadworks and ended up stopping long enough to see a new species of butterfly: the Chalkhill Blue! They are notable bigger than common blue and have a neat symbiotic relationship with ants who care for the catepillars in exchange for a sugary fluid

A chalkhill blue butterfly perched unside down on the stem of some dry wild grasses. It is a small pale blue butterfly with blsck spits on the underside of its wing.

Urgh I'm so bad at remembering to check when Global BirdFair is on, its literally just in the next county over, but once again I only realised once it's already happening. 🫠 I'm at work today anyway, but hope people have a great time!

The whole Clacton by-election situation is fascinating in its media coverage as it's functionally be a microcosm of how the media usually extensively covers Farage as a disruptor, but as he *is* the status quo here this means we are currently getting serious interviewers talking to a bin-alien.

Now this is novel - I'm in the outskirts of Leicester right now and can hear a raven nearby, the first ever time I've encountered this species inside a British city! They suffered massive persecution historically & were pushed back to remote habitats so having them recover to urban spaces is great!

A random thing, but I'm really saddened at the state of online media critique and commentary these days. AI has undoubtedly worsened it, but even before that there has just been a painful decline in media literacy.

Just about to begin watching X-men 97 series 2 and pondering Apocalypse. Like, he's this weird character where he's both powerful and scary, but tbh that covers up the fact he's absolutely not the philosopher he thinks he is, and and is kinda a tool?
