Frozen Moments X

A fascinating macro view of the subtle structure of a beached river iceberg on the banks of the Wisła in Poland - it appears to have frozen into column-like shards that are compactly pressed together. I'm sure there's a very good explanation for why it appears this way. Buy Print

The minimal architecture of the James Simon Gallery cuts into a wispy cloud passing high above. Strong shadows accentuate the contrast between the structure and the ethereal. Buy Print

Purple Camassia

A very beautiful and delicate flower, the Camassia is native to North America, but seen here in the beautiful Britzer Gardens in Berlin. Interestingly the flower's bulb can be harvested for food and was an important food source for both indigenous peoples and settlers. Buy Print

Nutria Invasion

I was quite surprised to come across these creatures whilst visiting Prague in early 2026. When I saw them swimming towards us through the river I assumed it was going to be a beaver, but then when they emerged on land it was immediately clear it was something else entirely - a semiaquatic rodent from South America! Nutria are listed as an invasive species, and can cause problems for local ecosystems, but in Prague they seemed to mostly be drawing a lot of oohs and aahs from visiting tourists. Buy Print

Fiat 500

In front of the Eglésia de Santa Eulàlia in Mallorca I spotted an extremely diminutive and well-preserved Fiat 500 vintage car - I'm pretty sure it was something to do with the wedding that had just finished in the church, and would certainly be a memorable car to drive off in. When I see these wonderful small vehicles of old it makes me despair of the current trend to totally unnecessarily oversized monstrosities. Buy Print

It’s in the details

I can imagine architecture being a very satisfying craft - taking the time to go beyond a simple plain wall and ceiling, and adding in extra detailing which might not be noticed consciously by every passer-by, hopefully gives pause to a few who enjoy the variety and contrast from the mundane. If I remember correctly, this little detail was spotted in the Trade Fair Palace in Prague - a building mostly austere and functional in its outward appearance, but updated with many flourishes such as this. At a lake's edge in Berlin, a tangle of roots splay out into the dark waters and disappear under the reflections of trees above. Buy Print

Dandelion

Maybe it's ludicrously common, but there's still something absolutely satisfying in a close look at a dandelion gone to seed - a globe of delicate seeds ready to lift off on a random gust of wind and go where chance will take them. And of course who can resist their inner child and not blow on the seed head and scatter them on the air. Buy Print

Interlocking Shadows

A couple sit on a park bench near the centre of Płock, surrounded by long and tangled shadows cast by the bare winter trees all around them. Buy Print

Eurasian Black Vulture

Low winter light catches the feathers and fur of this beautiful Eurasian black vulture, seen here in Tierpark Berlin. I believe this vulture in Tierpark is part of the European Endangered Species Programme which arranges captive breeding to boost populations in the wild. This particular species faced a dramatic decline in Europe but is starting to make a comeback in some areas thanks to conservation efforts like this. Buy Print

Peacock Facade

The entire facade of a building in Potsdamerplatz is altered by a mapped projection during Berlin's Festival of Lights. It's amazing how transformative it is to witness this sort of colour treatment of buildings which are normally mundane and mono-tonal. The whole experience and sense of the place you're in changes. Gallery Visitor

Palma de Mallorca has a plethora of commercial art galleries, and whilst the prices are far out of reach of the ordinary soul, it's still enjoyable to meander around the narrow streets finding unexpected visual wonders in the nooks and crannies of the city. Here Adrianna regards an interesting abstract quadriptych. I had to look this word up to be sure - one of the many different types of polyptych. Buy Print

What See You?

Pareidolia immediately kicks in when I look at this image, and I see the silhouette of a dancing figure in the middle of a fairly energetic move, hunkered down, arms pointing off to one side. What do you see? This was a random piece of ice that hadn't melted yet amongst some cobblestones near to our home, but it really jumped out at me as I was walking past. Buy Print

Stunning Lupine

I couldn't be happier with this photo of a beautiful lupine. I'm not sure which exact species of lupine it is, but those beautiful sharp blues and luminous green tip of the flower against the defocused luscious green background brings a smile to my face. I haven't come across this plant too often, and it was a real treat to find it in the beautiful Britzer Garden in Berlin. Buy Print

Boathouse Decay

Near Müggelsee in Berlin, a boathouse appears to be rapidly passing the point of no return. Water is an unforgiving medium to live in and it appears to be steadily degrading this particular structure. Buy Print

Perching Sparrow

I wasn't too sure what to think of this slightly bedraggled looking sparrow, but I suspect it might be a juvenile who hasn't quite developed the full adult plumage. I was very happy to get such a clear look as it balanced on this long reed in the grounds of Charlottenburg Palace. Buy Print

Dariya DJing

Some things change, and some things stay the same. I've been involved in many free parties over the past 25+ years, and whilst now it's battery powered and doesn't require the lugging of a generator and fuel cans, the core remains the same - people like to get out into nature and dance in a field. Here Dariya is DJing in an old and now overgrown industrial area somewhere in Berlin.

Shuttered Window

In the mid afternoon heat in Mallorca it makes a lot of sense to shutter your windows and not let the sun heat up your house too much. I love all the fine textures and tactility here. I can imagine myself walking past and idly trailing my fingers along the coarse surface of the wall. Buy Print

Glass Luminance II

At the other end of the cathedral to the previously posted stained glass window, this stunningly colourful piece was mounted. It seems almost like a computer drawn illustration, the luminance of the colours emphasised by the contrast of the bright exterior light against the dark and contemplative cathedral interior.
