How is it that Sanskrit words can have so very deep and detailed meanings? Afaik they are not ideograms. They are “normal” words. Still they can have very complex meanings/defs. I believe something similar might appear in the language of the native Americans. Are there other such languages?

I really like Finalist @dayplanner.bsky.social app. Bringing all flavors of tasks into a single view. Helping me see how the day looks like. Integrating with apps to avoid the “yet another inbox”. Giving me a fast way to add new ideas. I do confess that I’m using the free version though.

Since reading about the upcoming #Emacs 31 Pretest [1], I've been trying to figure out how to try it out on macOS Tahoe. emacsformacosx.com published version crashes on start (missing library. Any macOS users of Emacs 31 could point me to the right direction? TY [1]: lists.gnu.org/archive/html...

Usually there's a nifty page here with a big download button. But you are using a browser which doesn't support SVG and so you get the boring looking page.

Apple Sports app is such an amateurish attempt. NHL, NBA are in the playoffs. You’d expect to see the brackets right? What does the Apple Sports app displays? Regular season standings. Pretty useless, isn’t it?

Double indented numbered lists are beyond the capabilities of Apple Journal app. Firstly, try to figure out how to create a sublist of a list: 1. Item 1 1. Subitem 1 Secondly, the app crashes when entering the 5th character of the subitem. That’s super-engineering and attention to detail.

You are a vim/neovim user. You have a few plugins installed. How do you remind yourself of those that you are not using on a regular basis? I guess the question applies to any text editor or IDE. #vim #neovim

If your friend usually codes in Go and Java, and never used OpenAI Codex or Claude Code, which one would you tell him to try out first? \(^-^)/

I am completely ignorant to rely on Time Machine as a backup. It’s been 6 hours since Time Machine is “Preparing to back up” How could I trust my data with such a tool? Do I believe Apple support would do anything more than shrug when all my data is lost?!?

I just noticed that Bluesky shows followers you already know when checking another person's followers. This does not help discovering other people to follow.

How do you find people/accounts to follow on Bluesky? I have subscribed to some feeds but pretty much everything I get is politics. have no need for politics in my stream (yes, I do realize the times we are living and that's exactly the reason I don't need more of it)

If you are a Bear app (the notebook, not the blog) are you using a custom font and which one? thank you I have experimented with AtkinsonHyperlegible and now Platypi. I don't have many friends and connections in here, so I don't know if I will get any ideas. Maybe those I have will help me out.

The skill and capabilities of Apple apps are “impressive”. A new high!!! There is no way to edit a shortcut without firstly having to “Resolve a conflict”. It doesn’t matter that the shortcut was never edited on another machine. Every edit is a conflict. Apple cares… my a$$.
