Before I ever got into the AWS side of things, I worked in large scale logistics/inventory automation and planning. Research scientists and careerists in this area put respect on Taco Bell’s name.
A quick word on Taco Bell: That's where we found the suspected lettuce, and it's not bc Taco Bell is gross. It's bc Taco Bell is REALLY GOOD at tracing product! Keeping track of exactly where they got their ingredients, & exactly what restaurants each shipment of ingredients went to!
I appreciate that #CFBPayDontPlay got visibility while I still had time to cancel my College Football 27 pre-order.
Well reading the dissents in the birthright citizenship ruling was a fucking journey, wasn’t it. How the hell was this not 9-0 or 8-1 because Alito was destined to be a tool?
Had my first “full sprint from passport control to the gate as the agent maybe does maybe doesn’t hold the gate past closing time” experience and friends, I don’t recommend it. Especially from one end of Frankfurt to the other. I made the flight though.
I’m too jet lagged to think of a funny one but the one my brain keeps coming back to (preface - everyone is fine): Kept my cool in the delivery room so my daughter’s first moments on earth would be happy while my wife was fighting for her life in the other room.
It is time once again to discuss the Most Dad Things we have done in the past year. A couple of reminders: - gender is a social construct, anyone can do Dad Things - you need not be a parent to do a Dad Thing - the definition of a Dad Thing is entirely subjective and maybe made up I’ll go first:
Frankfurt Airport stories: In a long wait to even get in to the immigration area. Basically anybody non-EU with a connection in a longer line, standard stuff, but people melting down seeing some people getting to skip the line. And then…

Just feels like the proposals mostly try to make it too complicated. - Make capital gains taxes progressive by income. - Add a wealth tax that is also progressive by total wealth. - Add some teeth to corporate taxes and add new exemptions to incentivize having employees.
If AI displaces jobs, how does the government replace lost income tax ? This is now a mainstream question. Proposals include token taxes, robot taxes, higher capital gains, and government getting equity in AI firms (a Bernie favorite). Job displacement has gone from tech hype to fiscal reality
Watched the highlights of the match and friends, note the time in the match and the time in the video. This match did not have extra time or a penalty shootout.
This undersells it so much
Most Seattle sentence I’ve heard in a minute from my wife: “There’s an entire shrink-wrapped salmon filet on the ground on [street we live on].”
Shoreline / Everett / Bellevue
Tarrytown / East Austin / South Congress
Upside of my employer using direct API provider inference: Don’t have to stop for 3 hours after blowing a token limit. Downside of my employer using direct API provider inference: Entire workdays disappear in an AI focus dome without stopping and it’s draining!
we live in such a strange world now. I think the 4.5 hour workday could be real. wake up, work with Claude for an hour or so, talk with colleagues on slack for half an hour, log off for 3.5 hours, come back when the 5h window is up, do another hour of work, log off for 4 hours, third window at EOD
One dollar for every point Illinois scored in the NCAA Tournament, so thanks to Penn especially for rolling over and running up the total! @edsbs.bsky.social @hollyanderson.bsky.social @sickoscommittee.org
My 2 year old, pretending to play baseball: “The Mariners are going!!! [trails off]” Me: “Going where?” 2 year old: “Golf!” He’s just mixing up his sports he likes to pretend to play, but 💀
I once again am saying that cooking steaks in a pizza oven is life changing.
I need to see some grilling content. Show me your fine meats.
Lyon, France It’s not a surprise that it’s good, what’s underappreciated is that it’s the best food city in France. Depending on your taste, could be the best food city in Europe by extension.
Now that we got our LeBron James out of the way yesterday, let's do the opposite: what's the city you were surprised about and look forward to visiting again? For me it's either of the two Birminghams, the original one and the one in Alabama.
I have friends there and it’s certainly a famous city, but Los Angeles and I just don’t get along at all. Only place I can think of (across dozens of countries, 5 continents, much of the US) where the median person I interacted with was straight up mean.
In honor of LeBron James, what’s the worst city you’ve ever been to?
Your friendly reminder that Artemis II launch countdown is under 6 minutes right now.
All very interesting but I had a 🧐 moment at the Grok graph. Somebody is too busy trying to introduce a right leaning bias to make something actually useful.
Som evidence that AIs may reduce polarization, the opposite of the effect of social media: “while different AI platforms behave in subtly different ways, all of them nudge people away from the most extreme positions and towards more moderate and expert-aligned stances.” www.ft.com/content/3880...
