Grand Etang on the Cabot Trail, Cape Breton. As you may guess from the name, this area is French Acadian (although all speak English and, sadly, some are losing their French).

Bob Peters puts a weir on his stretch of the SW Margaree river each spring to catch some of the gasperaux run swimming up to Lake Ainslie to spawn. They used to salt gasperaux and ship to the Caribbean. Fresh gasperaux now commands a decent price as bait for lobster fishermen in the area.

'August Gales,' along the west coast of the Cabot Trail, Cape Breton, are generally the remnants of tropical storms that have moved up from the Caribbean. Since this is the Gulf of St. Lawrence, the waves are big but not as big as in a larger ocean.
