Leeds: The city closing down streets so children can play
In Leeds, streets are being temporarily closed to traffic so kids have more space to safely play - an initiative proving beneficial to both children and adults.

Genuine question. Why do people sit with the engine running in car parks, when it’s not especially hot or cold outside? Do modern cars not have the battery to power a radio, or are they just ready to make a quick getaway?

"No Ball Games" signs are a blight on children's lives, deterring them from playing out in their communities, outside and active. Wonderful speech by @ianbyrnemp.bsky.social calling on UK Government to ban such signs nationally, following years of campaigning by @playingout.bsky.social and allies.
Imagine if the woman in white was a small child, just getting used to being out and about on the street. It's not hard to imagine them being bumped off the pavement into the road.

It’s not feasible to have cameras or traffic wardens full-time on every street, so if drivers can’t manage to stick to the (vast amount of) space allocated to them, they need to be physically blocked from doing things like this.
