Pretty sure I discussed this song similarly when it first released, and seeing the concert, because I think I've rarely heard a blunt conversation from a musician to fans that 'there's a beauty and power to those people who tried so hard when they wanted to die to come here and stand here'
Think the story of Ano's rise to popularity is such a fascinating one, because of specifically what audience she speaks to. This song, and the song that follows it when I saw this concert live, I've never seen as many... cathartic, sobs from an audience relating to lyrics like this

Shinkansen zoom No matter how much I ride it never gets old
But man, I got so used to it being cooler in Tokyo, strangely so for summer, because rising 10C in the trip hitting the 38C heat in Osaka is burning me
Great show, and with the more intimate cast and setting for it being a smaller theater performance I not only think everyone did well but it actually suited the show better Great time
That being said, I’m not going to the main theater show this time, I’m seeing my first Bow Hall performance, which is inside a small 500-seater hall inside the main theater Specifically to see my fav perform in that show, which I’m very excited for (unfortunately sun makes a good pic impossible)

I love when old people in Japan decide instead of going grey they’re just gonna dye their hair purple Everyone with colored hair is 20-30 or 70+ here and it’s kinda amusing ngl
Backdating it is bad form but I also feel the new rules proposed here are very bad anyhow Shocking for this government, I know
The income requirement the government introduced for those seeking permanent residency may be applied to applications submitted as early as April of this year, according to the officially unveiled revised guidelines. 👉 ebx.sh/IrfLKG

This movie just got an indefinite delay due to the Kumamoto Earthquake which, like You see the poster and know the story of the series, it’s about emergency response to disasters, and it makes sense But the promo is heavy for this, as in recent years it’s become one of the biggest franchises
I’ve had a bunch of places on my new apartment search that have been like ‘we won’t take foreigners’ But I’ve had my first ‘we’ll take foreigners, but Japanese or foreign, we won’t take freelancers’
Oh wow, the Shinjuku ALTA still felt like it had the wall up just a few days ago It’s just fully gone now Honestly still sad this building with that iconic screen on it was torn down to be replaced, it feels so empty now
After pingu yesterday we went to the Nakameguro festival which was very cool to see some of the performances for, this was a particularly great one
Also, wrote about the stage adaptation of Boy and the Beast, which considering I’m not a big fan of the film, is really good!
Mamoru Hosoda's anime film The Boy and the Beast found new life as a successful stage musical by Gekidan Shiki. The acclaimed theatrical adaptation uses music and stagecraft to resolve the pacing and narrative issues of the 2015 original.
Speaking of, put some thoughts together on the Chiikawa movie recently, if you’re interested
Chiikawa The Movie: The Secret of Mermaid Island brings the fan-favorite unhinged characters to cinemas. Behind its cute, family-friendly visuals lies a surprisingly bleak and complex story that pushes the franchise into dark new territory.
Of all the movies Japan gets later than the rest of the world, how is PAW PATROL THE DINO MOVIE the one to be released MULTIPLE WEEKS EARLY COMPARED TO ANY OTHER COUNTRY
Look, I think the yen intervention that has shifted the $-yen conversion a bit in recent days from like 164yen to 155yen is probably for the best But ngl Knowing I’m waiting for multiple payments in $ totaling 4 figures, and seeing that number shift as much, still makes me a little sad
Now online too, read about Death Note: The Musical!
‘Death Note’ musical eyes a London breakthrough
Producers hope the hit adaptation opens the door for more Japanese original musicals overseas.

Not yet online, but if you pick up a copy of today’s Japan Times I’m back in the paper to celebrate the London premiere of the revamped Death Note: The Musical at the Barbican! Had a chance to catch up again with Frank Wildhorn to talk new songs/changes and the show’s potentially ambitious future
So many people wearing really cute yukata and I’m like ‘I wanna wear yukata!’ but alas I am not
Recently bought some hair mascara and the stuff is legit magic, I swear
I hate that AI has commandeered the 'it wasn't just X, it was Y' format, because sometimes, THAT WORKS BUT IF I INCLUDE IT IN THAT EXACT WORDING IT JUST LOOKS LIKE CHATGPT, DESPITE THE FACT I WOULD RATHER SET MYSELF AFLAME THAN USE THAT FOR MY WORK I HATE IT
It is very amusing to me that the Ace Attorney movie by Takashi Miike was shot on 35mm film, considering that by the early 2010s basically no Japanese films to the scale of this were being produced on the format
