If we want people to eat "healthier," we have to make it easier to find joy in things other than food. Like, by guaranteeing paid time off, increasing wages to reduce overwork, lowering housing costs to reduce commutes, and providing healthcare to ensure that bodies/minds are strong enough for fun.
Food policing poor families isn't a win for nutrition--it's a loss for dignity and joy. As Brea Perry and I find in our research (see reply), low-income parents buy food treats for their kids because they want their kids to feel happy and normal--and they can't afford to do so in bigger ways.
I think Syracuse should give my accepted student more money now because they've hurt my artist feelings 😉
“Sunsetting”, “reimagining”… Don’t let hand-wavy bullshit language distract you. This is the elimination of fields of academic study because the admins are afraid of the weakest and most disorganized president in modern history. Do not forget who the cowards were. dailyorange.com/2026/03/suns...
Marco looks like he might be going through some internal shit and I love that for him
Will this painting ever become irrelevant? Please? "Tired of Winning," 18x24 inches, watercolor on paper by Alisa Shea, 2019
If there's one empirical insight I'd want everyone to understand about American politics, it's this: America's problems are solved problems. Just not here. What would change if the US simply matched the average of 31 peer democracies? Not Denmark or Norway. Just the middle of the pack. 🧵
Pew Research Institute (2023): • Red State Texas has about 2.1 million undocumented immigrants • Red State Florida has 1.6 M undocumented immigrants • Blue State Minnesota has 130,000. And yet only Minnesota is being occupied by masked thugs over "immigration." It's *not* about immigration.
Current watercolor work in progress... because everything is coming undone
How many women have died with “fucking bitch” ringing in their ears? Don’t let the misogyny get erased here
Holy shit. This Kennedy Center speech is the worst I've ever seen him. It is CRIMINAL that people in government are watching this and not coming away saying this guy is completely incapacitated by dementia. This is shockingly bad, even by his standards
Pleased to have received an honorable mention in Artist's Magazine's 42nd annual art competition, shown here in the Jan/Feb 2026 issue
You've just died. The 6th picture in your phone gallery is what killed you. Wow. This is... disturbingly appropriate? Or the opposite. I'm not even sure
Current watercolor work in progress (cropped) and social commentary :/
“Terrible things are happening outside. Poor helpless people are being dragged out of their homes. Families are torn apart. Men, women, and children are separated. Children come home from school to find that their parents have disappeared.” Diary of Anne Frank January 13, 1943
