Most of you all don’t follow election law, but having armed police or military at polling stations is a serious no-no. International human rights orgs regularly criticize countries that have armed people at polling stations. The US press has traditionally echoed those criticisms.
When we lived in Oakland, I volunteered at the local Friends of the Library bookstore. A nurse also volunteered, and when I was shelving medical books, I would sometimes ask him whether this was a legitimate medical book. If it wasn’t, his response was “quack, quack.”

One good thing about majoring in history is that you learn to evaluate sources. That makes it a lot easier to do my own research and not end up believing some grifter.
I wonder how many people want to “expel” us from the Democratic Party, but will then demand that we “vote Blue not matter who.”

Looking back on the pandemic, it’s amazing how little creativity and innovation we had, as compared to Cubans figuring out how to keep their lives and their country afloat. We had so many more resources. And did so little.
People are surprised that Cuba has been able to hold out this long. Most people don’t remember the period after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Things were very bad. People had to put down their pets because they couldn’t feed them.
