President Donald Trump says on CNBC that he doesn’t like the idea of a United-American merger. Also says he’d love for somebody to buy Spirit Airlines and “maybe the federal government should help that one out.”

American Airlines puts out statement saying they are NOT interested in a merger with United. “While changes in the broader airline marketplace may be necessary, a combination with United would be negative for competition and for consumers,” it says.
