Human Rights Watch advocates for a society in which no one has to fear because of their sexual orientation or gender identity. Berlin's Christopher Street Day is an expression of protest that celebrates the many identities in society that continue to be rendered invisible.

Ja, @hrwdeutschland.bsky.social is watching.

Germany's government plans to restrict access to public records, including for civil society organizations and journalists. This is a significant threat to political transparency and accountability.

A very worrying development in Germany. When governments reverse transparency laws, one has to wonder what it is they want to hide, or at a minimum, what they would rather not be held accountable for by their public.

The #French National Assembly voted unanimously to repeal the 'Code Noir' colonial-era laws that governed enslavement. This was a long overdue symbolic act. The government should now develop a framework for reparations to address today's harms linked to France's enslavement & colonial legacies.

Gender stereotypes are such a pervasive part of everyday life that it can be hard to even recognize them—but they do extraordinary damage and are at the root of many forms of inequality and violence.
