I was a kid who struggled with running. It was hard for me, and man, it sucked the first time I had to run a mile. But somehow in trying to manage my weight in the military, I accidentally became a distance runner. Times were average for service, but I could run 5 miles in 45 minutes.
10:29 mile, 23:24 2-mile. I may not be able to breathe after that, but at least I can count!

I struggled to run in junior high, and in the army ran so much I got to where I could do 5 miles in 45 minutes. I'm a long ways from that, but doing a mile in 10:47 tonight without stopping is a really good feeling again.
