I don’t know if I’m still a bit last seasoned out, but I’m quite calm about this summer

#CFC's change of transfer strategy to sign veterans Welbeck & Henderson is not just an Alonso idea. A lack of emotional maturity has been flagged for some time. Even Liam Rosenior flagged it as a weakness in his first team meeting. An explainer here: www.nytimes.com/athletic/748...
Gabby Jesus looked quite fit yesterday, I hope he can find some form.
Do you know what I find baffling? That Newcastle’s club exexcutives find it baffling we are using an intermediary.
Past Arsenal teams would have been fine with Norgaard sitting in the bench and playing a few games, he was a perfectly decent squad player. (And a lovely signing on video) Mikel isnt measing about.
All I can think of now when I read any Madrid/Vincius update
A fresh start after spending 2 billion after the last fresh start following the dodgy two decades…. A fresh fresh start.
First, Xabi Alonso was hired as the new manager. Now, the final punishment for historical financial irregularities has been settled. It truly is a fresh start for #CFC both on and off the pitch this summer. My column here: www.nytimes.com/athletic/748...
It only took me 10 minutes this morning to decide whether to take my car to Morrisons or rent a gold helicopter.
Sandro Tonali is really in the papers today saying it only took him 10 minutes to decide to join Tottenham over Manchester City. "Probably it will be one of the best decisions of my career," he says
The only way Infantino will go is if he wants to. And the next person up will no doubt be the same (as it has always been). The whole thing is rotten and full of people happy with that as long as the wheels keep turning as they like.
This, FIFA thing is about to get very messy. I’m fairly sure a “okey dokey, no harm in asking” isn’t coming from Infantino soon.
I’ll be honest, after this World Cup I’d happily sit one out if it gets rid of him. Just put another Euros on and flick the Rik Mayall V’s
Infantino can do one for many reasons, but ruining pre season friendlies is one of them. I miss the good old Austria friendly where a Hleb type signing would rock up for a game. Now half the players turn up with a week to go and crack of because of his stupid schedule. (There are many reasons)
I’m filing this in the Aubameyang folder.
🚨 Chelsea in process of finalising deal to sign Danny Welbeck from Brighton & Hove Albion. Permission granted by #BHAFC for medical; if all goes to plan 35yo to do it by end of week & join #CFC in Hong Kong. 2yr contract agreed in principle @theathleticfc.bsky.social www.nytimes.com/athletic/747...
It’s easy to get hung up on what we think Arsenal should have done by now. But this is what’s happened so far, I’m not sure many others have moved the needle either.
