Of note, Veesaar is NOT a Two-Way deal. It’s a standard contract. (Flemings to come, maybe as soon as today) Hawks now have 16 contracts.

For those asking why the Hawks would rather decline the option than trade Kuminga... 1) They COULD still re-sign him 2) It's not as if they didn't explore the market 3) Kuminga at $24.3 million isn't some overwhelmingly awesome trade chip. Takes two to tango.

That's backed up by two salary models that are out there: $9.4M for @johnhollinger.bsky.social's BORD$ $15.3M for @stephnoh.bsky.social (there is appeal to a 1-year deal, etc.)
Of note, Jonathan Kuminga will now be an unrestricted free agent. The Hawks are still free to sign him, and Atlanta has his Bird Rights.

Carter was the 13th pick in 2024. Will make about $5.1 million this coming season with a 4th-year team option after that. He would fit in the Capela TPE if that’s the route they choose.
