Imagine Loom, but for storytelling 🎬 I built Screenity Pro for creators who want more than just a screen recording. Make multi-scene edits, zoom on click, switch layouts, add captions and templates — then share it with a link. 👉 screenity.io/pro

Just realized I haven’t written on my newsletter in over a year… 🫠 Life and work have been a lot. Trying to put myself first this year—my goals, my projects, and sharing more along the way. Let’s see how that goes 🤞

I've implemented arrows, shapes, & the eraser. I had a UX dilemma: whether to keep tools enabled until manually unset, or automatically switch to a selection tool on every action, showing transform controls. I've seen both, tldraw has a "lock" mode which I like, but I want to surface it better...

Been working on mapping out more of the features I'm adding to Screenity (not exhaustive) + comparing against other screen recorders. Hard to compete with some of these as a solo indie maker (some features are 💸💸💸), but I'm making it work so far by optimizing costs. What else should I add? 💡

A table of features I'm adding to Screenity, compared to other screen recorders like Loom, Screencastify, Vidyard, etc.

Thinking about building a discovery platform for Bluesky like I did for Twitter a while back, to help you filter through users and connect with others who share your interests. Too bad I don't have the time for it right now 🫠

A video still of the old Twitter discovery product I built, showing a list of filters to find users to connect with.

I wrote in my newsletter about redesigning Screenity. Read if you're interested in: 🖌️ Keeping visual continuity in an app used by 160K+ 🧘‍♀️ Designing w/ mindfulness at its core 🤔 What if you combined Headspace w/ a screen recorder? https://alyssax.substack.com/p/redesign-once-more-this-time-with

It is upsetting. It was the one thing that made it possible for me to pursue my passions, break into tech, move abroad, and connect with likeminded people all over the world. My life would have been drastically different without Twitter.

might sound silly, but I get genuinely sad and angry about twitter dying sometimes. like, damn, that was the platform that got me my first job that let me move out of rural Oklahoma. I spent a lot of time building my platform on there. very unfortunate

I had a bit of a wild idea for the color picker in my extension... Basically it's a radial menu which can be triggered from anywhere with swatches, and it can also become a full color wheel for specific colors. I've already implemented it with satisfying animations, I'll share more soon!

Radial menu with color swatches spread around a ring, and an eyedropper button on the center. The radial menu is converted into a circular color wheel to pick specific colors.

Is anyone else sharing what they're making on the platform yet? Trying to find new people to follow to get inspired, a bit tired of all the meta discourse on my timeline 😅
