According to the new rules for permanent residency in Japan, foreigners must earn "more than the average Japanese" to be eligible. In addition, foreigners will not be eligible for social assistance (生活保護), even if they are permanent residents. digital.asahi.com/articles/DA3...

Hey parents of bsky: What are some theories of parenting you were very confident in right up until you had your own kids?

I have 1 day to walk the family around on Wednesday. They did pretty much all central Tokyo and key museums. Would Koenji be a cool visit? Or meh? I’d like to something special but a) can’t do close space/crowd for health reasons and b) can’t go far from Tokyo center cause I have my kid to pick up 😅

While not every policy initiative is necessarily bad, I feel the Japanese government is rushing some terribly Immigration policy changes to please a certain crowd, while impacting categories of residents that really do need accommodations. In particular, single parent of Japanese citizens.
