Talking to my best mate about her job and the uni essays she has to read and grade is fascinating. Author must be the only profession to whom the word counts these students are complaining they’re struggling to hit sounds like cruel and tortuous shackles 😅😭

Some days all I can think about is the fact that my friend’s mum is called Merlin and her Aunt (Merlin’s sister) is called Joan OfArc (OfArc is her middle name)
This crashed & burned about a week after lmfao men. laborious as fuck.
A hot guy has just correctly used ‘laborious’ to describe something, and I’m not sure if it’s simply testament to how bad the pickings are on hinge in your 30s that this could be the hottest thing that’s happened recently? But we have to get married now. (He doesn’t know it yet.)
I've been so bad at keeping up with Blue Sky. Or any socials. Or any book marketing. Or writing n general. Or just anything. Just being an adult. Just existing. Does it ever get any easier?! At newly-33 i'm starting to fear not
Come sit around the campfire as we ask @amiescool.bsky.social all the questions! What’s her writing style? What's up with the tunnels under Manchester? 👀 Is she team Edward or team Jacob? 🔎 Can she spill the secrets about book 3? 🤫 #CampYA campya.org/campfire-cha... @chickenhousebooks.bsky.social

niche, but as a heavily tattoo'd woman and a writer, I really would love someone to commission me to write an article analysing the various reactions or comments I've received regarding them. Specifically men, and why they only ever seem to pick certain ones to point out & start a conversation on.
Happy Publication Day to ALL THE LOST SOULS by @amiescool.bsky.social 📚 The sequel to All the Hidden Monsters! This razor-sharp YA romantasy has an addictive slow-burn romance, twisty crime and heart-warming friendships. Perfect for fans of Cassandra Clare, with a touch of Rivers of London
book 2 pub day tomorrow taking me out of debut author into regular author with multiple books. Absolutely metal life update for that 8 year old girl that used to sit in her bedroom writing stories just to escape mundane reality in which magic didn't exist
CONGRATULATIONS to @amiescool.bsky.social and to her fantastic editor for being included in this incredible shortlist for the 2025 #BranfordBoaseAward! 📚🎉 This brilliant award celebrates the most talented debut Children’s writers and their editors ✨ #AllTheHiddenMonsters #Debut
asked on insta why Good Friday is called such in reeeally bad faith just to make a cheap joke this morning & the amount of people replying it stands for 'gods only offspring dies' is making my practicing-christian-albeit-a-rebellious-perhaps-even-offensively-so eye twitch😭 Stop being so stupid 😂
Ngl it was actually a very nice night, they were all women in heavily male dominated fields and so they were very self aware 😅
long story how I got into this situation in the first place but tomorrow I'm going to dinner with a group of strangers, I know their nationalities & work sectors but that's it til I get there. And it's just me and a load of people that work in 'tech' 😂🤦♀️ (one, I think, works both tech & 'services')
Kidlit colleagues, just a reminder that JK Rowling *funded* this challenge over the definition of women at the Supreme Court. Every time you choose to work with her, platform her, take a stance that aligns with her, buy her books, nominate her for more awards, she uses that and funds hate.

Don't know why submitting my self-employed tax returns makes my heart pound 😅 not like my meagre income that I have spreadsheeted down to the last penny is ever gonna flag me as a massive tax fraudster so WHAT even scares me so much 🤦♀️😂

Presenting my new book how men present fish. Out May 8th - pre order now.
I grew up with only girl cousins so Jasper was a shock to the system for all of us anyway really but this kid has pulled out two of his own teeth this week that were wobbly bc he 'couldn't be bothered waiting for them to fall out of their own' boys are truly unhinged ???
someone's just tagged me in a review that was 4* and opened with saying they loved the book, but then the whole review was just a list of things they didn't like 😂😭 Is this... is this the new way to get round the 'don't tag us in bad reviews' rule 💀

can't stop laughing at jasper telling me his mate was upset school declined a 4 week holiday request, but then half an hour later tells me completely unrelated that kid has been off sick for 3 weeks now and he hopes he's okay. Absolutely not put 2 and 2 together there😂🤦♀️
my laughter is getting more and more unhinged as I try to edit this manuscript down to under 100k 😂
out at dinner last night my mate's husband pronounced Henry Cavill's surname like Cruella DeVille and now I fear I will never be able to call that man anything else again
absolutely thrilling today to have a classic 'can I ask you advice on how to get published' chat with a man who instantly argued back against the advice I gave when it wasn't what he wanted to hear 😂😂
Absolutely deceased at my 11y/o son(went to my mum's after school but they just parked on my path to walk into town to see a show)who just ran in for an umbrella & told me at 10x the average speed of speech the deets on my mum's recent fallout with her bff then ran back out. Alright Gossip Girl xoxo
YA romantasy author here, just laughing hysterically to herself because she managed to pun her editor's name into 50 Shades of G-Rachel in an email about wordcounts 👍
ngl you've got to respect those last bastions of the left still hanging on over on twitter, relentlessly sharing edits of JD Vance looking progressively fatter as the days go on. You just know that terminally online eyeliner man will be freaking out 😂
upon reaching out to pass on my congratulations, I learned today that the translator for one of my foreign editions died a few weeks ago after a very short illness. She just missed publication & all the wonderful reviews I'm reading praising the writing style, which is much more on her than me. 1/
