I recently had few new followers, so I thought to post this to introduce myself. I am a British Syrian poet & writer of Kurdish origin who lives in London. I published two poetry collections Don't Forget the Couscous and Dear Refugee (Smokestack 2015, 2019).

I am pleased to be asked to contribute to a podcast for the Refugee Archive Project. Thanks to all those working on such a timely and important initiative.

There are still some people who feel threatened when refugees are empowered. The stereotype that refugees are in constant need of help because they are vulnerable needs to change. Rule of life: nothing stays the same, everything changes.

I am honoured to receive an invitation to read my poetry as part of Refugee Week at this great event on Saturday. I will be reading from previous collections, my forthcoming one, and a flash fiction piece.

As part of Refugee Week, I will be reading several of my poems from my collections, ‘Dear Refugee’ and ‘Dont Forget the Couscous’, in addition to some poems from my forthcoming collection at Ealing Library on Wednesday, the 17/6/2026, from 18:00-19:30. It's a free entry event with a poetry open mic.

My poetry journey, particularly the themes of home and exile, will be the subject of a dissertation topic at the University of Sussex, done by the student Eleanor Hickey.

It has been a long journey to this day. Today, I submitted my PhD thesis at the University of Northampton, titled 'Islamifascism: Islamism, Fascism, and the Case of Hasan al-Banna (1928-1949).'

كانت رحلة طويلة للوصول لهذا اليوم. اليوم قمت بتسليم رسالة الدكتوراه بالتاريخ في جامعة نورثامبتون البريطانية تحت عنوان: الاسلاموفاشية: الإسلام السياسي، الفاشية و دراسة حالة حسن البنا ١٩٢٨-١٩٤٩.

لسه من كم يوم نفس الطبل كان عبنادي بالتطهير العرقي مع شعارات بويجيه، كراسين، الخخخ اليوم صار بدو يعطي حقوق. احلى مافي الأمر انو بدون يعطو حقوق ناس هنن السكان الأصليين للأرض. على قولة محمود درويش: "إن من سلبك كل شيء لن يعطيك أي شيء، ولو أعطاك أهانك"
