My latest work is out in @embojournal.org, and it well deserves a 🧵!!!👇 For the first time in vivo, we show that somatic gonadal cells sustain the developing germline by producing lactate through glycolysis and shuttling it directly to germ cells to keep them alive link.springer.com/article/10.1...

So proud of this new published work from the lab! link.springer.com/article/10.1... We show for the first time in vivo that somatic cells of the gonad support the germline by providing metabolites - specifically lactate.

🆕🧪‼️ New lab preprint! We study how germ cells (the cells that give rise to gametes, in this case sperm) are supported by somatic (non-germ) cells of the gonad. This matters for our understanding of reproduction - without germ cell development, animals are sterile. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...
