#hobbystreak day 954 Basecoating my FOBs today. Its clear that this will be a slog! I'm doing the right thing and painting all the magnetised weapons at once, so I'm not adding to my weapon backlog. With each platform having 3 guns, 2 shields, 3 crew, and a huge base theres a lot to do!

Continuing on revisiting my slightly unfinished guard minis. 'Lord solar' here was finished up for a tournament, but still had some unpainted details. Fixed up a few little issues and now I can call him done!

#hobbystreak day 942 Sick days = slow work on sentinel weapons. Don't know if I'll be using flamers, but autocannons are becoming a favourite weapon. Also played my second league game and secured a win. Highlight was ramming a banesword with a chimera. It exploded destroying a whole table quarter.

#hobbystreak day 939 Thanks to my son having a lie-in I was able to get an early bit of painting in and finish off the classic metal Ogryn squad. Ready to jump in a chimera with 'big hat man' and cause havoc in tonight's game! Hoping they don't suffer the newly painted minis curse!

#hobbystreak day 936 With a game coming up I should be painting Ogryn. So anyway I built and magnetised 2 FOBs. I don't know how to use this unit, the indirect option, the rocket that has dakka, or the heavy lascannons that just dare your opponents vehicles to say hi. Im leaning that way atm.

#hobbystreak day 935 More ogryn progress, still have leathers to go, and all the black areas need camo patterns. Then it's last details and hair to finish. With the points changes this unit has made it straight into my list, I'll now be taking 2 heavy bolter chimeras full of chunky lads!

#hobbystreak day 932 With my game group saying points changes are expected tonight and guards winrate being... not high... I may be needing these Ogryn to make my army legal again! Bases done, basecoats finished and inks on. Time to highlight starting with red.

#hobbystreak day 928 With my Microsol order arriving I could finish the Crimson Fist Lieutenant! The transfer isn't perfect, I need to work on wrinkle prevention, but practice makes perfect. Very proud of this mini, the question is do I paint my Armageddon box as Lamenters or Crimson Fists?

#hobbystreak day 926 I'm at a stopping point with the Crimson Fist Lieutenant. I tried a transfer from the armageddon box, but it went terribly. Took it off and now I wait for a microsol/set order. I've loved painting this guy, first time in ages I feel like I've really improved as a painter!

#hobbystreak day 925 What i hadn't known about NMM is how much it comes alive by painting the non metallic bits near it! There's not much left to do on the LT now, the chapter symbol and a few minor details, then the base!

#hobbystreak day 923 I've been painting my Guard for 6 months now. Time to give myself a break and paint some new colours. A nice simple space marine, just as a mental break. Oops, full-throttle NMM practice time! Definitely not mastered the art, but much improved from my last attempt at NMM

#hobbystreak day 920 (yesterday) Progress is slow on the Ogryn, it's another UK heatwave and it's definitely limiting my painting time. On the gaming side it's league time at my local club and I've started the season with a win vs a Space Wolf Terminator force.

#hobbystreak day 918 Thw autocannons are finished, so now my heavy weapon team can swap out their guns! I think the plan now is every new unit I paint, I also paint some magnetised weapons for old units, try and get to that 110% painted mark. So next up: ogryn and chimera heavy bolters!

#hobbystreak day 916 After my tourney I decided to swap out some some weapons, so a couple of multimeltas and 3 autocannons are on the painting desk. I also want some more Ogryns, so I've stripped these lovely old metal ones ready to add to the Flaming 3rd!

#hobbystreak day 913 That's a wrap on my first ever tournament. Game 1 vs salamander was a close loss. Game 2 vs grey knights was a solid win. Game 3 vs Ravenwing was a win by 1 point! So 2:1, pretty proud, and came 5th out of 18! Glory to the Hades IX, Flaming 3rd regiment!

#hobbystreak day 912 Not quite finished with Lord Solar, but he's done enough to get me 10vp for being painted! I've done a lot more than I expected, the metallics are the main thing holding him back now. Tomorrow is tourney day! Imagine ill learn a lot about playing guard as I lose 3 times!

#hobbystreak day 910 With a concerted effort I've got the Leman Russ 'tournament ready'. It still needs highlights for the hull colours, and I've not started the turret or sponson options. But thanks to my other Russ I already have those bits spare! Tomorrow: lord solar and magnets.

#hobbystreak day 907 My tourney is on Sunday, so Im desperately trying to paint the last 2 minis for my list. Lord solar is battle ready. I'd rather do more, but I could just glue him to his base. The leman russ now has its first basecoat of silver. That's going to be the bigger challenge!

#hobbystreak day 905 Finished the heavy weapon teams. Love how bright those lascannons have come out! Imperium standard templates include paint colour. Changing it upsets the machine spirits. Camouflage paint is an insult to the Omnissaih! Only 2 models to finish for next weekend's 11th tourney!

#hobbystreak day 902 Finished the bases for 'lord dolar' and the heavy weapon teams. I've also painted the lascannons. Love how thise have turned out in the cartoonish bright red of my guard weapons. They look threatening, probabably more threatening than they actually are!

ID request: I got given this white dragon miniature. Its heavy and cold to the touch, im not 100% sure if it's metal gaming miniature or a stone dragon ornament. A quick Google has failed me. Does anyone recognise it?

#hobbystreak day 899 Busy working on bases and basecoats for the Heavy Weapon team and 'Lord Solar'. Loving the HWTs scale, those lascannons are huge! Meanwhile it's incredibly satisfying to see paint on my lord Solar kitbash, I'm very proud of him, a fine centerpiece for the army!

#hobbystreak day 897 Sly marbo and the catachan squad are finished! Only 3 heavy weapon teams, lord solar, and a leman russ left to go! Ive made a start on the bases for the teams and Solar, but unfortunately im a bit unwell atm, so I had to stop and rest instead.

#hobbystreak day 895 Still plugging away at the Infantry squad and Marbo. Making good progress, only the silver to highlight and the oranges left to go, but thats at least 2 nights which leaves me considerably behind on my target.

All the 11th edition talk has made me look back to my space marines. I may need to paint some more after my guard hit 2k points. I mean look at these guys, they seem sad, they need buddies!

#hobbystreak day 890 Not much to say progress wise, just chugging away at 11 guardsmen. Got reds and silver basecoats done tonight, then threw some null oil on the silver. By my maths I'm still running on time to be done for my tournament. So long as 11th doesn't suddenly reduce points!

#hobbystreak day 888 Finished off the commisar, it was nice to just paint one mini and see the quick progress. I love this sculpt, quoting loudly from the uplifting primer! Onto the next challenge, an infantry squad and Sly Marbo, all thier bases are done already, so it's batch basecoating time!
